Random useless fact. When I first played Mortal Kombat I had no idea how to do special moves. The first one I ever performed was Raiden's teleport, which I managed to do by mashing the snes controller.

From what I understand, Kano was never supposed to be Australian, even in the film. His accent is supposed to be a British “cockney” accent, which most American viewers mistook for Australian, and that just stuck.

How about people claiming Mortal Kombat has no story, that it's just a bunch of people beating each other up? I'm not sure if people still say that now, with the games having story modes, but MAN did this annoy me back in the MK3 to Deadly Alliance days. Just open up those instruction manuals and READ!

shang tsung is a shape shifter, so any differences could be explained away as him altering his form, either by accident or another in universe reason to throw his opponent off guard.

Wow, I was only stumped by the last one. I never knew that another guy played Shang Tsung.

I wonder why he's not like an additional credit or something in the end credits?

The first 4 facts I already knew. I've played all the official mk games, but I never knew there were 2 Shang Tsung actors in MK1. That was some serious digging for those. I appreciate that kind of effort.

A lesser known fact is that Trevor Goddard (who played Kano in the film) was from Croydon, England. When he played Kano, he wasn't doing an Australian accent, he was doing a working class London accent. So the whole change of Kano to Australian was based on people not recognising accents properly. I never see this fact on any sites or any videos, so I thought you might find it interesting, being as you're the king of Mortal Kombat Kontent.

To me, Kano has never sounded Australian, he just sounds like a pirate.

Very interesting. As a plus for me, I met Daniel Pesina and Richard Divizio at the Galloping Ghost Arcade near Chicago last year. I only got to talk to them a little bit, but I was so excited to see them. Hopefully I can get pictures with them if I meet them again.

The rumor of a ninja Ermac was actually perpetuated with a doctored photo in either electronic gaming monthly or Gamepro Magazines in the early 1990's that said "Ermac Wins" with a red ninja in Scorpions victory pose. This photo has been lost and never used to prove the existence of ermac in MK 1 arcade game as he did not exist. It was a stunt or April fools prank as the games popularity was(is) highly gossiped. The photo itself was high quality fake for the early 1990's and it's initial intent or motives are rumored to open the door to wilder Easter eggs than reptile.
