Pete is plainly a genius if he's playing a song multiple ways during a concert. Or he's just so adept, and in tune with his guitar as an extension of himself, that he can play parts of a song with different "voices".

Lots of chords! I started figuring it out an got thru the pre-chorus an just about lost it! It could be worse, I could be back in the late 80’s early 90’s hittin the rewind button an wearin out the tape, like I used to! Cool, thanks much!

@James James. James, thank you so much for putting up another Pete Townshed/Who song. I've always admired Pete because of his style of playing and because he's always been able to produce some of Rock's Best Music & yes, I've watched a few concert video's, where he plays it differently, (But always 100% Great.) Even when I'm messing around in my guitar/music room playing some of my favorite Zeppelin Tunes, But I always end my practicing sessions with The Who... I sometimes can hear my wife comment while on the phone with a phone friend, or when she's just sitting having coffee in our kitchen say, ''Dan's playing Who Songs now'' to one of her phone friends, or she'll just say to me, ''Hey Hon, That's The Who Isn't It.'' Even she knows that when it comes to The Who, I automatically play harder & sometimes louder.
With all that said, I have to give you a Great big Thank You James.... Thank you again for uploading this tune.. I hope that your rotator has healed 100%, (An accident in 1991 still causes me a lot of grief & pain because of a doctor who wasn't the best one I should have had back then.) Also, I hope that all is going Well With You & Your Terrific Wife. God Bless You & Your Wife....

Really like your playing and dissecting songs. The picking pattern I’m just gonna make it up. These classic songs are unbelievable when great ear explains what I hear.

So funny the closed captioning read that as " as long as we have the PIZZA guitar out" 😆.
Hope you're feeling better dude✅☮️☮️

Try these chords in the pre chorus. Am Gm F/A C/Bb F/A F5/Ab C/G Gsus4 G. In the middle section try Ab Eb/Bb Bb/C C/D twice then Dm G. The altered bass notes make the chords work much better under the melody.
