If Germany never existed, christianity would never had the most traumatic war in history that led germans and later their neighbors to invent religious freedom in europe.
And yes, the germans still suffer a cultural trauma from the 30 years war. Even the german word for war comes from that conflict. It killed depending on the region 60-90% of the german population. The economy needed 100 years to be back at the strength of 1618.

Germany is a relative modern invention but the cultural and etnic origin of it as always existed so even if it didn't came to pass it as a state is likely that is influence would still be important. Besides austria and prusia would exist so thats basically germany
