MY HAIR ISN'T TAILBONE LENGTH BECAUSE OF MY GENETICS!!👀🙄#tailbonelengthhair #longnaturalhair

People often compliment how beautiful my hair is. But some are quick to contribute my length to genetics. While it's true that genetics can play a role in hair growth, it's not the only factor at play. In fact, many people with seemingly average hair genetics can grow long, healthy hair with the right care and lifestyle habits.

When they say it's genetics, it's a way to deny accountability for the fact that THEY break their own hair.
If it's "genetics" they don't have to improve or to make any effort to change.

Length Retention is the most difficult part of growing Long Hair. Genetic may play a roll in rate of growth but that don't mean a thing if you aren't able to retain what is growing.

I will admit that I have long hair and I'm mixed. HOWEVER throughout my childhood I could not retain length for the life of me. My mother started a consistent regimen. STILL NOTHING.
It wasn't until maybe 5 yrs ago I realized my hair likes to be cleaned/conditioned and left alone. No oils, no butters.
My hair is near waist length now.

I remember Ppl used to count everything as genetics! Even avoidable diseases! Im glad ppl are coming into more consciousness of their bad habits. Cuz everything is not genetics baby 😂 good post! 💯

I hate when people say, well, it's genetics! No! Hair is hair! It grows! You have to take care of it so it will not break off!

Within the past year, I have not been gentle. I haven't been patient, and I have manipulated my hair a lot, especially the front. I have also been stressed, so it's shedding like crazy.
I'm paying for it, too. Smh.
After the most recent detangling session, I was hit with a dose of reality. I must take better care of my hair.

People will argue genetics is the only determining factor in long hair when really their results is a lack of knowledge and healthy practices. healthy hair is a commitment. It’s not something that can be attained through what’s fast/convenient. It takes care, patience and time. Something a lot of people do not have unfortunately.

I get that alot till, I show them my before pictures and then they believe that having long hair takes more than genes.

It really is a full time job. People in my life always make fun of me for taking 3-6hr wash days but it’s the time and care that makes your hair grow consistently. I cut my hair down to about half an inch in sept 2020, my hair’s now a good 13-14 inches. A cool and consistent 6inch a year so far. It’s time consuming and a pain in the ass but it pays off

Some people can’t take the truth! When you look after you the results are phenomenal and if you don’t well, we all know what happens! Don’t mind them jealous folk.

I’m so sick of people making excuses of why some Black women CAN grow hair! At this point, embrace that genetics IS playing a part and let the haters hate as their hair fall out and break off because they are making excuses of not taking care of their own hair! You’re gorgeous!!❤

Absolutely gorgeous hair. Thank you for that vidoe on "Natural Hair Rules You Do NOT Follow. Thank God someone else said what I already knew.

Exactly. They'll use any excuse not to make the changes and/or investments, or do the work. Before I knew how to handle my hair, it was always short and broken off. I've already chopped it and grown it past mid back 3 times now and I have the "nappiest" hair. Black women's hair grows with the right care with the right length retention practices. It's not hard.

Agree with every point because my genetics allow me long hair but I’m terrible at maintaining length everytime I turn around my Hair is back bra strap length 😂❤
