Forgot to point out that women can also be datus and even the word datu is gender neutral, it can be anybody including gender fluid people (binabaylan, binabae, asogs and bayougins)

Pre-colonial Philippine cultures and kingdom…I’ve noticed from many research is that they have a lot of freedom and equality compared to many kingdoms and city state at those times. Everything that people today despises and find controversial are somehow accepted in those times.

Their beliefs in life is so different than many culture in the world.

The barbarian stereotypes on filipino came from the pre colonial cebuanos because they are raiders, foragers, and slave trader unlike kedatuan of madja-as(negros and ilo-ilo), sulu sultanate and tondo sultanate that has a complex laws and develop thier own farming method as i read Philippines history most of them are tagalog centric and completely marginenalized the history of both visayas and mindanao.

To be honest, we were already a progressive nation during the pre colonial era. Colonialism just ruined us 😢

I think the closer trading partner of the precolonial Philippines is Brunei, Malaysia and Indonesia, not Japan and China

It was indeed true that even prior to the arrival of Spaniards, we already have our own goverment. Specially in mandanao, we already have the sultanate of sulu. Thus, it is incorrect to say that Magellan was the first one to discover the Philippines.

Before we thought that the filipinos look like a caveman or barbarians before colonial period. But in reality we had a good culture back then

Before colonial period we Filipinos have standards in government - which is the Datus' or village chiefs. Unlike Spanish rulers Datus' can be legally impeached by normal people

Justice system

Culture - farming/ in fact banaue rice terraces is in pre colonial period before

Magellan isn't the one who discovered the philippines -

We already trading our goods in Japan and china several years before he discovered the philippines

Discovered in 1521
And we are colonized on year 1565

The spaniards westernizing the filipinos introducing Christianity,

Our traditions started to replace with western culture because of the spaniards

Datu, Hari and Ginoo are supposed to be gender-neutral terms to address higher-ups regardless of their gender.

you can stop putting words to the viewers mouth

"contrary to popular belief"

"to your surprise"

"people think we were starving"

No. These sounds so patronizing when you can just state the facts without bringing up your own misconceptions
