The Absolute BEGINNERS GUIDE to STELLARIS

Stellaris is a complicated strategy game with a deep learning curve and a lot to wrap your head head around, so I’ve put together The Absolute Beginners Guide to Stellaris in order to help beginners with the fundamentals, and help more experienced veterans convince their friends to start playing it with them! If you’re struggling with the information overload at the start of the game and aren’t sure where to begin, then I hope the tips and tricks in this tutorial will help you out!

At it’s core, Stellaris is a 4X Strategy game. Explore, Expand, Exploit, Exterminate. The main gameplay loop revolves around this concept, as you find new systems, grow your borders, harvest their resources, and potentially go to war with your neighbours once you’ve run out of space. But what sets Stellaris apart is an infusion of roleplaying to the dynamic, you design your species from the ground up, from their genetic makeup and homelands, to their ethics and government. The decisions you make throughout the course of the game are reflected by your species, and the harder you lean into what your people would actually do, the more you benefit and the better you play.

I’ve been heavily inspired by other great Stellaris Youtubers such as Montu Plays and E3PO, who both have fantastic guides that go in depth on every aspect of the game. If you’re looking to learn how to absolutely min-max your playthrough I highly recommend looking them up in order to become true masters of space!

Ship auto design is actually awful. I’ve lost wars simply because the AI is building ships that aren’t up to technological modernity, that fail to be adaptable to various enemy fleet types, and that are not comparable with each other ship type in the fleet.
