// ABOUT THIS VIDEO

In this video, I make a simple DIY workbench out of plywood using a style of construction I learned from the wood whisperer (video linked below.) I'm not saying this is the best way to build a workbench, but it's good for a lot of people, so it's worth considering.

I really like this design, man. I'm in the process of designing my new outfeed/assembly table and this checks a lot of boxes for me. The only other think I'd probably add would be drawers for more storage.

I really like the shallow shelf concept, I find myself doing the same and that would definitely help. I will probably incorporate that into my next work bench build video.

Great design. I love how simple, but well executed it is. It hits all the needs you have for it. Nothing more, nothing less.

i don't even watch your videos for the builds anymore. Or rather, they're secondary. Thank you for another wonderful offering.

This workbench has a lot of the simplicity (and shallow shelf concept) of Donald Judd's desk and work in general. How with simple and austere materials as plywood, you can do brilliant objects. Love your work Chris!

Well thought out, thematic, nice editing, pleasant music, and goes full circle in message. Very well constructed (sorry) and looking forward to the next!

I built the same thing for my workbench and I love it. I did add a piece across the front, to make the edge of the table flush with the legs so that I could add a bench vise, though. It's plenty sturdy and now I have tons of space to work with.

u have a very calm, soothing voice. I think I might play your videos just for ambience when my anxiety runs high. great choice with the chill soundtrack, too. I was just trying to figure out a simple workbench with a shallow shelf (for those very reasons!) using my extremely minimal woodworking skills and this was perfect. thanks!

I actually like the revisions you made to Mark's table. I built my own version of Mark's table about 7 years ago, and when I last moved, I gave it to a friend. Like yourself I needed it to double more as a a working surface I could clamp to, and I found that the low bottom shelf I put on it collected too much long-term junk. I still probably wouldn't build this version (still not for me, I think), but I do need to put some thought into building a new outfeed/workbench table. Thanks for the video!

Excellent video and build. Your reasoning to justify each area was well timed...and disarming. All I'm left with is "this is perfect for you ", and based on the narration I think that's what you were going for. At the end you managed to skillfully blend woodworking into your life philosophy, which was incredibly well executed. Best woodworking video I have seen in a very long time. Bravo, my friend. Bravo!

Great video! I’m asking a friend with woodworking skills to turn a bedroom closet into a bicycle workbench area. He suggested I watch this video first. Thanks! You’ve given me some good ideas!

This is a great design, about as simple and inexpensive as it can get. Just about anybody can make one of these workbenches and all you really need is circular saw and a 8 foot straight edge. The 1/2 inch lower top height for outfeed and the low height shelf makes so much sense to me. Thanks, Chris Salomone!

Always look forward to your videos, Chris! Completely agree with your point about a workbench being suited to your individual needs, which may change over time. I don't have the time or space in my shop for a traditional style workbench, and my space limitations require the bench to pull triple duty: workbench, outfeed table, and assembly table. My modest bench made from sheet goods meets all three needs, and therefore keeps me going in the shop. And a side note: your bench set-up in your shop is what inspired me to make a few modifications/upgrades to my existing bench. Keep up the good work!

Today, I built a table based on this video. Dimensions are different, but just like you said... it's better for me. I ended up needing one sheet of plywood and only had about 1 2/3 sq. ft. of scrap. Great video! Thanks for the inspiration.

Never thought I'd watch a useful woodworking video that almost made me shed tears at the end

I really enjoy the narrative you put into all your videos. It makes the project almost secondary to the story you are telling. It's very much like Wm. Walker Co. videos.

I don't reply to many YouTube vids, but when I do it's for a reason. This design is exactly what I was looking for. I needed a little more "beef" to mine since it will be my primary workbench for now anyways... I ended up dropping the shelf lower for stability, making the legs 6.5 inches, then gluing and screwing the entire thing together. Yes, overkill I know but I wanted to stay away from traditional. It turns out that the workbench doesn't move! there is no racking, is "light weight" and takes all kinds of load. Thank you for posting a great idea!
