even in poor Arab countries, although they are poor but they also "fight for the bill" it is a kind of tradition that shows that you are generous.

So true! My grandma and dad recently fought for the bill!! You haven't seen a determined, tough Middle Eastern woman till you see a 70 something woman march across the restaurant and (lightly) shove her son-in-law to reach the bill.

I never knew how awkward it is to fight over the bill until we did it once in Manchester. The waitress was so confused, I think she thought we didn't want to pay so we had to explain to her that we need a minute for bill fight 😂.

I'm a waitress and this definitely happens. One guy gave me his credit card at the beginning of the meal and I had to hold onto it the entire time they ate and ordered more drinks so I never knew when to run it!

This is very true, i have North African friends aswell as Middle Eastern and they also fight over the bill, some truly get disappointed if you pay twice.
You can see the disappointment in their eyes as they argue over the bill.
I guess it's not only a cultural thing but i think it's an Islamic cultural thing a good gesture in a way.
They also have to accept a gift even when they do not want it or need it but they have to accept a gift because it's disrespectful if they deny a gift.

That happens also when its time to clean dishes if we invite someone to lunch or dinner, it goes like that :
Mom : i will clean the dishes go have some rest
Aunt : no way i will clean the dishes
And this conversation will be like for a 15 minutes, then my mom finally convinces my aunt, then guess what happens, I I I I clean the fucking dishes, love from palestine
