Aivazovsky died in 1900 in his hometown of Feodosia, where he had built a house and a studio. He left behind a legacy of over 6,000 paintings, many of which are displayed in museums and galleries around the world. He also inspired and influenced many other artists, such as Ivan Shishkin, Arkhip Kuindzhi, and Claude Monet. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest painters of the 19th century and one of the finest masters of marine art.
