“Leave my family alone “ Like buck not a part of his family . No remorse or nothing for what he did to Rufus as a child . He deserved what happened. Not his wife tho . A man like nat and Rufus’s father is a ticking time bomb . He woulda lost his self again and did the same thing to lil Nat . History repeats

When he placed the guns on the table, I think he was giving him a chance to save his wife. He was going to kill his father regardless, but I think if his father was remorseful, he would have shown mercy and not killed his wife. But because he didn't apologize and admit to everything he had done in front of his family right then and there, he proceeded to kill his wife before killing him, so that before his father died, he would feel the pain that he felt when he killed his mother.

Idris has such a specific screen presence that you know it's him before you even see his face.

Omg watching this scene again after watching the whole movie the first time adds more context to this scene. It’s brilliant how on first viewing, the audience is a Young Nat scared, confused, and beyond all vengeful and as the story progress we’re with him but when that plot twist happens we’ve grown with Nat in a way, and watching this again just makes me want to watch the whole movie again!!!

It was the kid's reaction for me that gave me chills....perfectly casted kid for the short role he had, great acting all around. Loved this movie.

This kid’s acting was amazing for such a short role. Hell, his reaction literally made my heart stop during this whole scene

If Rufus let the mom live, I don’t think Nat would of grew up with enough grief and pain to seek revenge.

Theodore: *Leave my family alone.*
Rufus: *Y-your family?*

This scene is just chilling and powerful. And is emphasized even more with the fact that Rufus doesn’t say a single word or that his face is shown.

Coming back and watching this scene later after watching the whole movie holds so much more weight. I think Rufus setting the guns on the table was him giving his dad a chance to be remorseful and save his family. But when he didn’t apologize, offer any words of consolement other than “leave my family out of this” was the final push for Rufus. Especially when it’s his son and he’s not even acknowledging him

Great ass movie, Netflix needs to keep on supporting these writers and directors

You can see Rufus Buck’s face through the blur before he shoots Nat’s mother. You can see a look of disdain, offense to “don’t hurt my family”, pain, sorrow, and anger.

This reminds me a lot of the past Arthur Morgan spoke on in rd2 when speaking on his late son and his sons mother “you can’t be a bad man and expect good things to happen “

I almost didn’t feel bad for the dad at all it’s a shame nat got caught in it, but you don’t run away and try to run away from mistakes like this, Rufus had every reason to kill his dad especially after the brutal abuse he detailed later
