There comes a moment in a TV show or movie when you realise you’re watching an exceptional work of art. This was it.

This was one of the most moving scenes. The dancer, Alice’s vocals, and the orchestra arrangement made this scene so emotional.

ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SCENES EVER!!!

I hope Jeymes Samuel sees this one day and confirms/denies it. When I watched the Book of Clarence at the movies, the scene where Clarence goes to speak with Jedediah in the beginning of the film instantly reminded me of this scene. I knew Jay Z executive produced both, but it wasn’t until today that I learned Jeymes also directed The Harder They Fall. I wonder if there’s any connection between these two scenes? If anyone ever gets to speak with him, I hope you’ll remember this. Both scenes gave me chills. It’s like, “there’s beauty in danger.”

This is my favorite scene in the entire movie. The moving song paired with the blue dancer who never speaks is interesting. I like how the scene never zoomed in on Idris until the end when Alice sang, “Friday’s child is ever burning” as if a reference to Idris’ character being Friday’s child, or Wednesday’s child as the song is titled.

This song and scene was great.
The song explaining Rufus's soul and then the camera focusing on him at the end. Pure chills man.

The blue woman is a spirit that only Mary can see. Blowing out candles, and never breaking the concentration of the characters, who are unaware of the presence; which their eyes can not see. When the blue woman is dancing on the table; her sporadic movements seem to be from a place of desperation, and the restlessness, which comes with being unheard & unseen. Truly moving

They did a great job invoking the feeling of her meeting her demise which is Idris Elba with the strong and erie music and vocals, all that matters in film

My goodness. Powerful! That first sequence of the dancer where she welcomes you in. Her body moves like a snake and her eyes so inviting when she pulls you in with her hand gesture. My Goodness!!

And you have to know the tension from watching the movie cause I have tried sending this clip to friends and they don’t get it.🙆‍♂️

This scene reminds me of the scene on hustle and flow where Terrance Howard is sitting in the pew and the lady is singing so powerful that it makes him cry. It’s moments like this in movies that moves you. Exceptional work

This scene and the scene where chereokee spoke the native language at the end are my top.

At 1:15 in the Video when the dancer makes that move, that backward down motion, you know the Slaves on that ship are doomed. Such a powerful move in choreography. Three short verses in a song, tells a whole history of the Slave Trade. Astonishing performance.

The amazement on Stage Coach Mary’s face was priceless! It dawned on her the true essence of Rufus’s character. I really wished Nat didn’t kill him in the end. Hoping they could join forces and rebuild a better more beautiful town together!

It tells the story of slavery. Rufus Buck was ruthless, but he had a good dream. That's why his people believed in him. But violence creeds violence. You'll notice Nat was gentler, but he still took his vengeance. 2 wrongs don't make a right.

I love this song and this scene. I reckon the lyrics might be about slaves being shipped from Africa to the Caribbean/USA but that's just my interpretation. Chillingly beautiful song though.
