So You Want An Evo 8

The Evolution was originally intended only for Japanese markets, but demand on the "grey import" market led the Evolution series to be offered through Ralliart dealer networks in the United Kingdom and in various European markets from around 1998. Mitsubishi decided to export the eighth generation Evolution to the United States in 2003 after witnessing the success Subaru had in that market with their long-time direct rival, the Subaru Impreza WRX STI. From rally-inspired roots to appearing in the biggest movies and video games, this car still manages to win the hearts of car enthusiasts. Find out why in today's episode, So You Want An EVO 8.

Literally almost snapped my neck when I seen one of these the other day. Told the driver “if you ever want to get rid of that, hml I’ll pay a pretty penny for it”. He smiled, waved, and took off.

As a dude who's more of a STi guy, I've got mad respect for different Evo builds. The Evo 6 is my favourite model.

Another thing to consider, few mechanics know about the Evo VIII, including the dealer. After snapping a ball joint at 80 on the highway, my Evo was sent to a Mitsubishi dealership for repair. They didn’t complete the job properly and my insurance wanted to total the car. I refused, bought it back and took it to a specialty shop well known in the Evo game, and they figured out the problem in less than 5 minutes. I’ll never sell it.

Finally someone made a factual, beautifully cinematic Evo video! Thank you Alex for doing your research well and not just saying Evos are unreliable like almost every other Youtube channel that has never owned one or been in the community. An Evo is as reliable as its owner💯. I've had 16 different sports cars from all across the spectrum and my Evo 8 stands above all the rest for true driving feel and emotion inspiring power (2.0 Longrod 9000RPM 600WHP road race build). Other cars come and go but the Evo along with my S2000 have a permanent spot in my garage.

As much as I love my 06 STI, still definitely see owning an EVO in my future. Always loved these cars and the STI/EVO rivalry!

I'm not an Evo guy. At all.

But always. Mad respect. These will be $100k+ in 30 years.

Love this one, I have owned my 8 for 13 years, and all the points shared were valid. It’s a great car, but it does have to be maintained well and taken care of otherwise bad things happen.

Yes I want one!! My uncle used to owned not one, but both Mitsubishi and Subaru. An Evo 8 and Subaru Impreza WRX STi Hawkeye.. Both properly tuned around 400+hp. He's a cool car guy not gonna lie. I used to drove and on throttle both his Evo 8 and the Hawkeye and the driving experience is just... Priceless ❤️

I bought an 8 brand new in '04. I put 178k miles on it. Modified it a bit but in a balanced way. That car never failed me. It's one of the most reliable cars I've ever owned. Saved my ass several times as well. I loved ever minute of owning it. If you can get one, get one. Period.

I have an Apex Silver Evo 8 I bought new in 04. Only a couple mods...wheels, WORKS tune and exhaust. A ton of highway miles on it and even tho I can afford to buy a new car, I chose to sink $8k into rebuilding the 4G63 and assorted new parts. CA car kept garaged, no rust and looks new, but I wouldn't sell it, even tho I'm accosted everyday with rubber neckers who want to buy it, whatever the cost. It's just a thrill to drive. I dressed up the interior with two tone leather, carbon fiber and a sound system. I don't see myself selling it until I'm way older. I've just moved to Arizona and plan to check out some killer roads for it. Great vid!
