Hi Professor - when I do the math on 10 * log(2.5e-2/e-12) I get 10 * 10.3979... ~=104 where is my mistake? Thank you

Why did physicists and engineers add the factor 10 to the eq.? Was it just a matter of not wanting to write a decimal i.e. 30 dB instead of 3.0 dB?

Mr. Professor why the sound is in logarithmic scale? And if we want to increase its value of 1 the sound has to be ten times louder. Does the air produces some inertia?
