My father had a saying... "I've grown up in an Ireland that no longer exists"!
There's a lot of wisdom in those few words

These people are right. Tourism was one of our greatest assets, now the idiots running the place have destroyed that too. If it's any consolation to the people visiting, try living here folks.

Ireland is ridiculously expensive for both tourists and locals. Rents are insanely high compared to 20 or 30 years ago and wages have not increased anywhere near as much.

Thanks again to Gript for covering another important story. Dublin is an interesting city with great tourist potential. But it is being ruined by exorbitant accomodation and food prices. Tourism is one of Ireland's most important industries & it should not be taken for granted.

The protugese man summed it up the best for me, Portugal 900euro for house, Ireland 900 for room, there's the comparison across the board

Every time someone says something to me about the rising prices, I usually say 'you aint seen nothing yet'.

Once the Irish government used to proud of Failte Ireland and promoting Irish Tourism. There are never any adverts or talk of tourism in Ireland anymore. All they do is promote mass immigration.

That last lady that was interviewed sounded angry and who could blame her. Once the tourists stop coming and go elsewhere it will take a lot to entice them back.

At least in Dublin they will let you know they are robbing you.

Too many bogus asylum seekers and Roma wandering the streets also, terrible blight.

Fair play to that woman from Costa Rica. She’s dead right “thievery” . Hotels in Dublin are shameful and destroying our tourism

I've visited Ireland and Dublin many times over the last 50 years or so. It's almost unrecognisable now to how it once was. Even only 20 years ago, it was still relatively affordable considering it was an important World capital. Now...well it's insanely expensive tbqh. This has become the way of things though in most European Cities with huge tourist trades

How are all the new to the parish surviving in Dublin if it's so expensive especially as from what I can see most of them are on benefits

What a shame, I remember Dublin, as the party capital of Europe in the 90s, it was fun, cheap and easy to visit.

€777 for 1 nights accomodation is a scandulous price to pay. Tourist/hotel industry definitely needs regulated and a ton of common sense practice incorporated. The greed of Dublin is too much to stomach. Something needs to change quickly.

The tourists look shellshocked at the state of the kip that is Dublin.
