Hi, I'm Charles, and I'm here to show you how easy it is to set up a Topfin Aquarium. This particular kit includes the following products, all designed to help keep your fish happy and healthy. So let's get started. First, place the tank on a sturdy level surface near an outlet. Then using plain tap water, thoroughly rinse the aquarium and all its components. Of course, every tank needs some basic accessorizing. Start with gravel and a few decorative items because your fish will need decor and plants to rest in and interact with. To set up the filter, just set the Topfin Silent Stream Power Filter onto the tank and insert the filter cartridge. Then attach the heater and the thermometer with the provided suction cups. And be sure to leave everything unplugged while the tank is dry. Next, fill the tank with room temperature water. And don't forget to add water to the filter housing. A power filter requires priming to function properly. At this stage, you'll also want to add Topfin Aquarium Water Conditioner. Plug in the power cords, leaving enough slack to create a drip loop for each cord to avoid a shock hazard. Most Topfin filters will turn on automatically when plugged in. Finally, make sure the lid is seated correctly. You'll need to switch on the lights. Be sure to follow the product directions and talk to an associate to learn the proper method for acclimating your new aquatic pets. You'll also want to add Topfin's Ready Start Nitrifying Bacteria Starter to speed up the cycling process. Your pet friends will love you for it.

I bought a Topfin heater to save a few bucks. Big mistake. It was fine for a few months but then one morning all my fish were dead and the water was at 95 degrees. Never buy a Topfin!
And yes, the water was at the correct level relative to the heater.
