I'm so glad that Alex Hirsch pitching about Mabel dying was just a rumor. Disney would never kill off their main characters in any of their shows, unless it's Amphibia or The Owl House.

In the series finales of both shows, the main heroine dies or gets killed, but then a powerful deity revives them.

Also, Mabel was an anlog for Alex Hirsch's sister Ariel. There's no way they would do that to a character that represents a real person.

Even in the writing experiment didn't presently die but future Dipper warning them of it happening in the future.

In Weirdmaggedon 3, before Stan makes the deal with Bill, Bill captures the young Pines Twins and says he'll kill one of them. He says "Eenie meenie miney you!" He flashes their symbols in his eyes, and it lands on Mabel's before he is interrupted.
However, that line was used twice in the series before. First, in Tourist Trapped, Stan says it when deciding who to send to the woods to hang up ads, which leads to Dipper discovering Journal 3. The second is in Sock Opera when Bill possesses Dipper. This pattern makes it seem that Dipper could have been killed. Obviously, the writers went through with none of these, but I think they intentionally alluded to theories like this.

I thought the theory came from the whole Twin Pines mall thing from Back to the Future. Marty goes back in time and destroys one of the pine trees by accident, and when ue goes back to the present, it is now called the Lone Pine mall.

Also, Mabel, just like how many things in Gravity Falls are based on his childhood, is based on Alex Hirsch’s twin sister. You really think he would kill off his own animated twin sister?
