FILM DESCRIPTION:
Emmy Award-winning director Tom Hooper (John Adams) teams with screenwriter David Seidler (Tucker: A Man and His Dreams) to tell the story of King George VI. When his older brother abdicates the throne, nervous-mannered successor George "Bertie" VI (Colin Firth) reluctantly dons the crown. Though his stutter soon raises concerns about his leadership skills, King George VI eventually comes into his own with the help of unconventional speech therapist Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush). Before long the king and Lionel have forged an unlikely bond, a bond that proves to have real strength when the United Kingdom is forced to flex its international might.

I was surprised to see that in fact Logue's assistance to the Duke of York had begun in the mid 1920s rather than in as it seemed from the movie in the mid 1930s and that Logue was introduced to the Prince by another Titled Englishman who helped pave the way for badly needed assistance.

Wonderful movie. Showing how this relationship between the King and his instructor relationship changes. Becoming very close friends. The story of the kings wife to help her husband. It is just story telling we don’t see from Disney, marvel, Star Wars and so many more studios. After another disaster at the box office for disney.

The "father" bit is a nice piece of writing. Later we learn that the prince always felt that he was in the shadow of his father and that his father was ashamed of his son's stammer

Loved this film. King did improve greatly. His father's death, he let go of the past and moved forward. Onky problem he continued to suck cigarettes, till he developed lung cancer. He died to young!
