I see why people like Duplicant, and it IS pretty good, but I have never been as impressed with him as some other people are. At 6 mana, you get a creature removal and (possibly) a big body with no abilities. In flicker decks he is insane, but I don't think in the larger EDH/Commander scene he is as good as some people make him out to be (not better than the Eldrazi, in my experience).

Now that i think about it, Duplicant should've probably deserved the Eldrazi spot. The amount of decks that relys on specific individual beaters that arent there general is quite insignificant while tons of decks run Duplicant

Is there a reason Lightning Greaves isn't sharing it's spot with Swiftfoot Boots? Especially for voltron builds Boots are better imo. Similarly, i'd have added Scroll Rack to Sensei's Diving Top, if you have a way to shuffle, it's just insane. Finally, I'm kinda missing Karn Liberated, besides All is Dust he's offering much needed removal to mono coloured decks other than white. Though all those are minor issues, it's a great list!

Great point, I forgot to put the Boots there! I'll definitely put in an annotation (and I think even out of Voltron). I am pretty sure in terms of universality, nearly everyone would run Top over Rack as a first pick, so that's why I chose top (though I did mention Rack in Honorable mentions). And Karn I actually forgot about :-o He is definitely fantastic (my favorite planeswalker for EDH/Commander, actually)...I'll definitely annotate him in. Thanks for the helpful comments!

Did you not see my top ten listed at the end? I just listed additional cards that could easily take the spot (in that they are similar), but I didn't say they were part of my list.

I would disagree. It is not nearly as powerful in EDH/Commander as it is elsewhere (does very little till it does combat damage, and even then the abilities are minimal).

I was thinking that in mono color, no one would choose lantern over Darksteel ingot but your probably right that it deserves an honorable mention.

Greaves are better than all of the swords in my opinion. Although some generals use them better than others.

I believe every Commander deck should run Sol Ring. I have a Mardu EDH and I use Oros the Avenger as my General. If I get the right draws, I can bring him out on my third turn.

I'm actually surprised Chromatic Lantern didn't make the Honorable list. Even in the mono-colors, it is a basic ramp, but damn if it isn't handy in every multi-colored deck. Turn 1 Sol Ring, turn 2 Lantern is a comfortable starting position.

Gaea's Cradle? Maze of Ith? Also Command Tower doesn't really fit the criteria that it'd be good in a monocolour deck :p Not saying it shouldn't be No 1, but i wouldn't be suprised if cards like Cradle or Maze are

I think mana vault should have been mentioned. When a card propels you to turn 2 tezzeret, bribery, gilded lotus ect. It can seem as bonkers or even more than a sol ring.

I love making my Slivers colorless then playing all is dust, at the point the game is usually over.
