This truck was driving along the highway when a caravan rushed to overtake it, in the same lane. This resulted in a collision, and both vehicles sustained considerable damages. Fortunately, none of the people inside the vehicles were harmed.

I don’t know the jurisdiction where this happened, but in my state, the vehicle that’s already on the expressway has the right of way; therefore, the merging vehicle should have yielded.

I was too busy looking at what looked like a tornado ahead 😊

Why are so many referring to US and UK road regulations? The video is from Denmark, and the sign ahead of the merge means that neither driver had "right of way" or "priority". The merge is supposed to be done with "mutual consideration", at which point it seems both drivers failed...

Misleading title - the caravan was not overtaking but it was the cammer vehicle that was at fault for not giving way.

The caravan does not overtake!!! It is driving properly in its lane. The driver of the truck has behaved dangerously wrong.

There's a piece of dirt on the cammer's windscreen that looked like a tornado, I did a double take! 🤣

Im am super impressed they didn't jack knife the caravan and saved it from another accident

Did the camera vehicle have mirrors? Best to be safe and avoid these situations when you feel they are developing?

What happens in Denmark stays in Denmark.

My good God, the whole world isn't the USA. In Denmark, which is in Europe, vehicles joining have priority especially on short slip roads like this. The caravan involved in the collision knew that and that way least 20-30 seconds to adjust their speed. They made the wrong decision, a decision that will leave them paying a fine and for repairs to the cam vehicle. What happens in the USA or any other country os irrelevant.

He just forgot that he was towing a caravan!

The caravan was in the left lane and could have stayed there, collision avoided! There was no need what so ever for him to turn into the right lane.

This is Folketing’s fault. They make laws that are written in Danish and thus can’t be understood by tourists.

Sign shows merge of lanes, both must help each others. It doesnt show priority for anyone. In Norway it works the same, and a give-way/yield-sign is only used if the mergelane is too short.

A lot of context is missing, for example was the car towing the caravan, merging into the right hand lane from the left? In which case the truck driver could reasonably have assumed it was in the outer lane as he pulled onto the major road? In this case yes the truck is mainly at fault, however he car should shoulder some of the blame by pulling into an empty lane when the truck is merging

The red upside down "Y" is for 2 lanes merging ahead. Meaning the first vehicle has priority, basically zipper merge. Cammer was ahead and caravan speed up thinking they could make it.

Caravan came over from adjacent lane..

Looks like this is filmed in Denmark! So comments about "right of way" may not be valid as I know from experience that certain European country's have (or did have) some rather odd/unusual "Give Way/Right of Way" regulations. I will say that that is one horrendously designed slip road junction. I further add though, that driver pulling the caravan has no excuse for not seeing the truck and clearing the nearside lane so that he could merge safely, note the clear space in the outside lane behind the caravan. It is the duty of anybody who is actually "driving" a motor vehicle to watch for all possible hazards and act accordingly; I've always made it a habit of watching the slip roads and if necessary clearing the nearside lane whenever possible at that kind of junction. You aren't in a race, drive as if you want everybody to get to the end of their journey safely!

The merging vehicle appears to already have entered the lane before the second caravan comes past though. Could the driver of the caravan, not see? Maybe did forget about the caravan hanging off the back?
