Dallas woman who went to Mexico for plastic surgery returns on life support

A Dallas real estate agent is on life support with brain damage after traveling to Mexico for plastic surgery. Laura Avila's family says she went to a clinic in Ciudad Juárez last month for several procedures, including a nose job and breast implant replacement. But before those procedures actually began, there were major complications. Anna Werner reports.

There are great doctors and surgeons in Mexico but the good ones are also expensive, so don't go for cheap service because you get what you pay...

I'm tired of people acting like they have no idea why more and more women are doing this. With a society like ours, that values what's on the outside far more than what's on the inside, often rewarding those who have had plastic surgery with fame and fortune is it really any wonder why? I'm an average 25 year old woman who considered myself to be confident and comfortable in my skin and i never ever considered plastic surgery until the rise of social media and the level of influence its had on society. Normal everyday insecurities are magnified by 100 and suddenly something that only slightly bothered you is all you can see when you look in the mirror. Therfore i can absolutely see why impressionable young girls/women with worse insecuritues and without good support systems would head down this road. We, as a society, really need to start asking the right questions.

Almost did this in New Port Beach, Ca a few yrs back.$12, 000 All the pre-op was done... Ready to go... but backed out the last min... b/c I didn't feel safe. Too many botched reports ... like this one... that changed my mind. Bought a car instead. There was no need for plastic surgery. I'm happy ...
