Here's the deal. Every time an ATF agent makes a mistake he should be fined $250, 000 and thrown in prison for 10 years. No exceptions. Because that's what they will try to do to you or me should we make a mistake, regardless of intent (and regardless of SCOTUS precedent).

I don't believe that this was a mistake at all, I believe that they were seeing what they could get away with like they always do. this isn't a correction, it's backpedaling.

The only reason they're "correcting" their "mistake" is because they were caught.

They can correct everything by shutting down.

Have they ever admitted shooting an unarmed woman holding a baby was a mistake?

What I would love, is for the ATF to admit they *they are a mistake*

They aren't upset that they are deceptive, they are upset they got caught.

For those of you who haven't caught on yet. DO. NOT. ASK. THE. ATF. QUESTIONS.
You aren't doing anyone any favors, and you're the kid in class that brings up the homework assignment the teacher totally forgot about, right before class ends.

I don't think people give a SH*T what ATF says any more.

I just can't keep myself from gasping at how we lovers of guns keep kicking around the semantics of gun laws when all gun laws are simply

Yet another reason why a government agency with no legislative authority should not be permitted to be changing and creating laws by decree. ATF needs to be course corrected into enforcing laws as written and not making rules at their own whim.

I've talked with enough atf agents to know that most of them have different understandings of the the laws and I'm pretty convinced most of them have never actually read through the laws.

How often is it required for ATF
agents to be mandated into
refresher courses in "standing
law" as furnished by the
U.S. Supreme Court ? ? ?

. . . Not just the memos of the
interpretations of the day.

*What the ATF meant was YOU the registered owner CANNOT use said weapon WITHOUT an agent of the ATF present. There! We've got that clarified.*

Engaging with them only gives justification for their existence. "Disband the ATF"

This was only a “mistake” because someone caught it. If nobody said anything, I guarantee they would have prosecuted someone for this.

The first and only mistake was the ATF acting as if they were a legislative branch of government as opposed to a law enforcement agency (which needs to be abolished).
