The all-new 2025 Toyota Prado – also known as the Toyota LandCruiser 250 Series – gets a lot of things right and is a massive improvement on its predecessor in almost every respect.

It drives better on and off-road – in fact this Altitude model is a real weapon on the really rough stuff – and its got a better interior, more tech, more equipment and more of everything really. It can tow more too. But there are compromises in the cargo area.

The Altitude version is an absolute monster off-road and was virtually unstoppable… right until the very end of the test when we hit a snag. A snag that eventually required a tow truck... Check out the video to see exactly what went down and why.

Shamelessly so.
That’s why we pooled our decades of passion and know-how into one, easy to get to place.

If this happened to any other car brand, all the comments would be saying, that's because it's not a Toyota 😂

Water in the air box stops it charging? Literally WTF mate. You are being gaslit by Toyota implying it’s something you did rather than admitting it’s an overpriced under developed POS

Thats why in the ads say " Oh what a feeling "
And the dog says " bugger " 😂

You can see why the y62 Patrol is so popular, relatively simple N/A big V8. The complexity in some of these newer vehicles doesn't bode well for long term reliability. I wouldn't want to get stranded in a remote area in one of these

Toyota’s quality has gone down the toilet. I say this as the current owner of 5 Toyota vehicles here in the U.S.A (1989, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2014 Vehicles). Vehicles are overpriced, engine reliability is no longer solid, and they are full of cheap plastic parts. I want the quality of mid-2000’s Toyota back!!!

the more systems and subsystems you got, the greater the possibility of failure. that's why i love my jimny, the transfer case is operated with an old school mechanical lever. even the a/c vents are cable actuated. and no hybrid!

On a similar filming job in the outback about 20 years ago we took a Holden Adventurer, which was just a slightly raised station wagon with added AWD, through everything you did to the Prado- including deeper water, and it did fine. BTW, most of your weekend heroes in their 100k, high tech, 4WD monsters aren’t doing anything that hadn’t been done in the bush in VW Beetles 65 years ago.

All I can say as a Prado owner is what a disapointment
The air filters have along history of problems, just google dusting. The air filer box seem to buckle and dust gets gets in above the air filter, maybe water as well now.
It will be fine as long as you stay on the tar. Hate to be negative but so much could have been better with not much effort, especially the rear and fuel capacity for towing.
dont see why increase towing capacity, but cant tow as far and fuel consumption will increase if you tow 3.5 ton

If you were a paying customer who spent your own money on it, Toyota would have told you it's not covered under warranty, and it would be a $20, 000 repair not including labour.

The raised cargo floor is simply for the 48v battery system. Here in GCC, we get the same 2.8 engine without the 48v system with 7 seats and flush cargo floor.

This guy sets a new world standard for his dialog and detailed technical content, with a flair for entertaining language. Not sure if he has a team of writters to support his great performance. Most enjoyable. Thanks!

GREAT REVIEW! Thank you. Very thorough and not at all forced or annoying like a lot of other motoring journalists.

Cant believe Toyota put that battery assist in you had a choice between an old banged up troopy and this Prado, which one would you take to Cape

Why are there no gas struts for the bonnet? The bonnet rod is rather a step backwards for a $100K vehicle.
