My father passed april 1, 2020 (covid free. )
He has 10 kids, 22 grandchildren and 11 great grandkids. Plus siblings niece nephew s etc.
We couldn't see him after he passed . No matter what. Period. We was told to wait for to the funeral home to receive him.
And only then only 10 of us could.
I felt and still felt guilty for my family that couldn't see him .
Some people need that to be able to comprehend that it's final it really happened. I don't know but it's just something that shouldnt be denied.

Inadequate care in nursing homes was going on way before COVID 19 due to the lack of staff. Caregivers who have to take classes and pass state boards can not make enough not to be on government assistance!! Wal Mart pays more!

Yes no family in to visit nursing homes but ask if they are taking admissions from the hospital

You can isolate the residents from the public but you still have staff who come and go daily. How do you protect the residents from them? Having worked in a long term care facility, I can tell you that staff are not well trained nor supervised. And as a new nurse in their midst from an acute care setting, trying to get them to be more vigilant about something as simple as handwashing, comes up against a lot of resistance.
