Taiwan preparing for when — not if — China launches military attack: minister

China's recent show of force in the seas and skies around Taiwan has ended, but tensions remain high between the Super Power and the island territory.

It was in this atmosphere that a delegation of Canadian MPs visited Taiwan earlier this month, meeting with the president and other top officials.

During that visit, Global's Jeff Semple sat down with Taiwan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Joseph Wu, who discussed the looming threat of invasion by China and how to contend with foreign interference.

It doesn't matter how many times the Chinese regime repeats the *lies, *
or how *angry* it pretends to be,
- Taiwan 🇹🇼 is still a sovereign country.

Restoring diplomatic relations with Taiwan and abolishing the one-China principle is the best way

Mr. Wu, If you think you are an independent nation, why dare not announce independence in a high tone

Not studying history and lacking culture can make people fell ridicules and very ignorant.
1) Before WW II, China's territory of Taiwan Province was occupied by Japanese invaders. After the victor of WW II, Japan unconditional surrender to return Taiwan to China.
2) Taiwan has never been a country, it will always be a part of China. THE UN RESOLUTION 2758 IS CLEARLY WRITTEN. (Check online)
3)The establishment of diplomatic relations between Canada and China also recognizes that Taiwan is a part of China, and the Canadian government and people must understand this.
4) If Canada want to develop diplomatic relations with Taiwan, it must first sever diplomatic relations with China.
5) The relationship between some Canadian organizations and Taiwan has affected the one China principle of Chinese Mainland, and liked with Taiwanese elements to separate Taiwan from China. Then, Chinese NGO can also come to Canada to do some propaganda and carry out some separatist activities.

Great interview! Hope the world is listening carefully. 👂

Taiwan should be formally recognized. The Canadian government was so harsh towards Taiwan back in the 90’s… naming calling them “Taiwan, Province of China”, “Taiwan, China”, etc.. 😢

Taiwan has done everything to preserve their independence and democracy. I think it would be terrible to allow their system to fall to an invasion to the point where we in the free world should risk our own safety to support them.

It’s such a shame China that has so little respect for the concept of self determination. Taiwan has never been part of China and never will be. The Chinese that did show up there as refugees from a Chinese civil war have since been accepted and integrated through a difficult process and have become an independent nation with its own determination and direction. It’s wishes should be respected without interference from a bully nation like China whose motives are insincere and based on CCP propaganda around creating a narrative about a nonexistent conflict with Taiwan or the west. Every authoritarian regime on earth exists because they manufacture a nonexistent threat that justifies their extreme and repugnant authority based on a nonsensical threat.

In fact if Canada was to be invaded i'm on my first bus out. I have no reason to fight for this Indian land mass. It's not my land or my peoples land. I'm a Nomad. I say that as the grandson of a grandfather who fought in WW2 for Canada.

War is a disaster to both sides, especially for common people. If they cannot achieve "reunification", just keep the present situation. Provocation is silly.
