Solid state batteries for motor vehicle use have been a technology that is coming coming coming, almost here, almost here, about to arrive! However, it has so far never been released in a publicly available vehicle that can also be independently tested. No doubt there will be a Version 2.0 motor vehicle battery tech at some stage, however, many many companies have made many many promises on the impending release of solid state batteries that so far have never actually make it into a production vehicle.

How did you not reference your last video about the ceo of catl trashing solid state???

There is no such a thing like 100kWh battery and 1000 km of range in a car, Tesla Model 3 with very good aerodynamic shape to reach 1000km range at speed 100km/h needs 175kWh battery , then other bigger less aerodynamic cars needs 200kWh for that . Basic calculation .

Make your mind up, first solid state batteries will never work, and now they'll be in cars next year?

Is your video just prior to this one all about how Solid State just aren’t realistic anytime soon? I’m confused

Yeah no. Bouncing around and flip flopping on information makes you look like Scotty Kilmer, the click bait king

Click bait. Solid State has been just a year away for 20 years. I don’t believe it until I see it.

you JUST made a video a few hours ago with the boss of CATL saying that there wont be any solid state batteries. I'm kind of let down by you!

Didn't you tell us 3 hours ago that solid state batteries don't work?
So what is it? Make up your mind.

Dude. You just told us that the CEO of CATL said solid state batteries aren’t viable, and you agreed with him. And now you’re saying they are viable. Make up your mind. If you just push out any little bit of information in order to create content (which you do) and also contradict yourself, you’ll lose a whole lot of viewers. Including me.
Your product is information. If your information can’t be trusted, people will go elsewhere.

And while I’m at it, you are Australian. Pronounce Hyundai the Australian way. And look up how to pronounce gestures.

More PR and hype. When the cars/batteries go on sale with specific prices and delivery dates, they are real. Until then they are vaporware.

Just 3 hours ago Sam posted a video about CATL claiming Solid State batteries wouldn't work. Think of this, if you have a 500 mile range and the battery is good for 1, 000 cycles you've got a half a million mile useful life.

Sam seems to react just slighly different depending on who makes the claim: Toyota: ooh, impossible, garbage, lies!!! Aeon: ooh man, fabulous, will be in market next year! 😂

Solid-state batteries are the inevitable future of EV batteries for the simple fact that the co-inventor of the lithium-ion battery, John Goodenough, said they were for their extremely rapid charge time, higher capacity, virtually no capacity lost to extremely cold, or hot temps, and minimal BMS. The only hurdles are: cycle life and costs, which are both rapidly improving, but either way, they are the future for the reasons li-on battery inventors said. Great news in the this vid!

And all for Ad revenue.

It's kinda funny that Sam posts the same day a video with CATL claims that solid-state batteries are not safe and will not be used in EVs anytime soon and also this =] 👍
Time will tell - cost per kWh of stored energy and total cost of ownership (number of cycles, cost of replacement) might help to select proper batteries for low cost BEV and BEV super-cars. Anyway the competition and advancements in EV batteries area are more than welcome.

3 hours ago you were quoting CATL as saying "Solid state? No way!". 20 minutes ago, this. Sorry to say, but it's hard to take you seriously!

What happened with the CATL(sry edited) genius that 5 hours ago said that solid state wont work coz of the degradation and many other reasons. This channel also is a bit funny, same day "SSB Wont work" and now "SSB coming this year". like wtf.

I worry about all this relentless focus on solid state batteries . It's part of the disinformation narrative that we have to have some fundamental breakthrough before electric vehicles will really work for everybody. That's simply not true. We have second generation 2170 cells in our now 6-year-old model 3s that are going strong and show only 8% degradation. Even with the slight range loss, they are still great road cars, and the supercharger network is fantastic. So we don't need solid state batteries to make electric vehicles work even in their less attractive use cases.

Get your units right! Energy density is measured in watt hours per kilo not watts per kilo. Getting something as elementary as this wrong casts doubt on the veracity of anything else that you utter.
