Fun Fact, Tim Dillon, who plays the Arkham Guard who asks Joker to sign his book, said that while on set he and a lot of the other supporting or bit part actors were really confused over what was going on in the movie or what it was even trying to say or accomplish and that most of them could see it was going to bomb.

I don't know why everyone assumes that inmate is meant to be Ledger's Joker considering the timelines literally don't match up at all.
