Just wanted to throw in yet another affirmation of this technique . I spent over an hour trying to scrape about a foot of duct tape off my vehicle's paint using a rubber paint scraper, warm water, and rubbing alcohol. Though I made some progress using this method - the remnants of duct tape were still visible. Less than 5 minutes of scrubbing with gasoline removed it entirely! Amazing - thank you!

I tried 7 products and a steamer on my 2023 Ram 2500....Factory tape on the top of the rear window - both sides. I watched your video and it worked in about 5 mins...Thank you.

Hello Javo's Garage. I found your video as I was looking for a way to remove duct tape residue from my car roof. Your solution works. Not much fuel was required nor elbow grease needed from me. Thank-you to your friend as well for the original advice to you and for taking the time to upload a video to help us.

Wow...just WOW! 2014 Maxima had black duct tape holding up the side of the front bumper for 2 years. I got the bumper to screw back in and then was left with a 2ft x 1ft gob of duct tape residue. This video was the first one I watched and it worked amazingly well. Thanks for this. No damage to the paint at I scrubbed like hell with an old t-shirt.

As an auto detailer may I add you should also make sure you get the area re-clean and waxed immediately to prevent oxidation in some paints!

This worked great. Had goo from gorilla tape on black dash. Cautiously tried this and it cleaned it all off with no damage to the dash. Many thanks for posting.

MAN!! THANK YOU BROTHER!! I was To The Point to Where I Was Just Going to Sue Duct Tape For a New Paint Job!! The project you showed us is exactly the same situation I'm facing! Only mine is a metallic blue 99 Silverado! Beautiful truck that I accidentally bust in the back glass out of, . You saved my ass and possibly "Duct Tape" lots of legal fees!! LOL

Just duct taped my dads suv with tarps to keep out the rain from the broken windows yesterday, and this worked so quickly to take of the residue from the sun melting the glue. THX!!!

Thank you! This totally worked when nothing else did. Takes a bit of elbow grease and more gasoline than I thought, but it works.

Thank you so much. It looked so bad before, and nothing seemed to work.

It only took minutes of a little elbow grease, and keeping the rag wet enough that you can keep the area you are working on wet. It is best to do a small area at a time because gasoline evaporates quickly. <3

Thank you! This saved me hours of futile scraping and damaging the paint on my car!

I've done this before on a car which had duct tape holding the rear bumper (fender) in place. I would suggest having plenty of rags if you have a lot of duct tape to remove as the rags tend to get clogged up with duct tape glue. Thank you for reminding me of this method. I've been told WD40 does work, but is a lot slower and more hard work than using petrol (gasoline).

Absolutely awesome. This is the best method I have ever seen. It's quick, not a lot of effort and does not damage any paint work. Many thanks for sharing this information.

Thanks for the tip. I used Varsol, commonly known as paint thinner and it worked great. However, my sun baked Duct tape residue was on my roof rack not directly on paint so no harm done. I do believe it would still have worked on paint as long as vehicle is not new. Nice work.

Great video. If you don’t have gas lying around try mineral spirits (not Turpentine). Both gas and MS are petroleum derivatives

Yes, yes this works 100% have been trying heaps other methods with minimal success. Got it all off in 10 mins (elbow grease is required!)

Great tip. Never thought about using gas for this. Gas is also great for removing tar off your car.
