What is milkweed Josh? Is it a flowering plant?
Is'nt that "babies" going to become caterpillars and eat up your milkweed plants?

You will first get caterpillars. They will spin a cocoon from which the monarch butterfly will emerge. As a kid we would cut the branch the caterpillar was on and put it a jar with milkweed leaves to eat. We could watch it spin the cocoon and after a couple of weeks the butterfly would emerge. We could watch the whole process and then turn the butterfly loose, back to nature. The whole process takes a few weeks.
