Branch Retinal Vein Occlusion (BRVO) - FUNDUS and OCT Findings

Let me tell you my story- I am now 73 years old, I have had a long history of vascular problems and high blood pressure. In 2011 I had a quadruple bypass (no myocardial infarction). From then on I had a complete opthalmology exam every 6 months. Despite the exams, in December of 2017 I suffered a CRAO and optic nerve damage and immediately had a stroke work-up at a hospital. I was then put on Plavix every day. The stroke team found no evidence of a stroke apart from the CRAO and optic nerve damage. I was told there was no hope for restoring my vision in the affected eye. I now get opthalmology exams at a VA hospital every four months. I have been looking on the internet for articles about artificial retinas and optic nerves but everything is in very preliminary stages of research. Is there any hope say, five or so years in the future?
