We know that CRAO presents with cherry red spot and retinal edema in acute phase but changes develop over period of time.
Fundus and Retinal picture in a case of cilioretinal Artery occlusion are different.
Cotton wool spots in a case of CRAO persists even after retinal edema has disappeared.
some times CRAo may be confused with Commotio

Why, when I had my CRAO 4 years ago, which blinded me 100% in the left eye, with no peripheral vision either, was I told there was nothing anyone could ever do about it? It's easily the most devastating thing that's ever happened to me. Mine was the result of having urticarial vasculitis with multiple sclerosis.
