My favourite character is The silent. Despite the fact that I have the least wins on her (The watcher aside), I love to see the enemy health bar green and ending my turn early as an "omae wa mou shindeiru".

Installed this last night and played about 5 minutes and was baffled by the hype this game has received. Two hours later I discovered exactly why it was so highly rated. Awesome game and beautiful on my Steam Deck.

This might be the best tips guide I have ever seen for a new game I have tried out. Coming from a 25 year MTG background I am pretty confident this guide was a "who is the beatdown" caliber of content. VERY WELL DONE sir. You should be proud of this guide because you probably leveled up non card players trying this game out for their first time several times over.

Ignore everything this man said, the secret to Slaying the Spire is to have a magnificent beard like his.

My favorite is Defect. The stacks you can build up are amazing, but trying to do the math before you execute can be tricky sometimes.

After playing for an hour today I decided to watch a video for beginners, right after finishing it I got a sick win with a very thought out block build. It was a blast to blaze through the Spire without a scratch. Very informative video.

So glad I found this channel. I've played this game for a total of over 100 hours. 92 runs, with only 1 "victory". The victory came from a custom run where I basically gave myself as much advantage as possible. On average, I typically only make it to about halfway through the 2nd act, or die early on in Act 3.

Only a few weeks ago I realized that you shouldn't take every single card reward. My decks would end up so bloated and the really good cards were rarely drawn during fights.

The main thing I learned from this video is to not avoid the elite fights, and to be better at balancing regular fights with mystery rooms. Up until now, I basically avoided elites as much as possible, and if I were given a choice between a fight or a mystery room, I'd always hit that question mark hoping for a relic.

My favorite character is probably Ironclad. When I first started, the idea of "Exhaust" was scary on card like Corruption or True Grit. I changed my mind once I realized how insane exhaust synergies are. Currently working my way up ascension, and am at ascension 6 on Ironclad.

As a Slay the Spire player who already spent more than 300 hours on different platforms on the game I can say that your guide was still very helpfull for me. On the one hand it is nice to know that most of my decissions in the game are somehow in line with your tips on the other hand the "practice things which you dont like" tip is something which I have to apply more in my playthroughs. After a period of time you just stick with the same 2-3 stratetgies. Which is dangerous and hinders you to climb up on ascension ranks.

Well done!

These are some good tips. You say in the pinned comment to give tips that we think you missed. I think that there are some higher level ideas that can earn small advantages that can turn a loss into a win. The first is that there are some relics such as nunchaku, ink bottle, and happy flower which will keep a counter between fights. It is generally good practice to set these up at the end of the fight when you can be a little more flexible with your card choices so that you can get their effects on the first turn (arguably the most important turn) of the next fight. Additionally, another concept that helped me was paying attention to when I used my draw cards. If you have 1 card in your draw pile, and you play a draw 2 card, this means that everything in your discard pile will go back into your draw pile. This means that all the cards in your hand are not getting shuffled into your deck meaning you will have to go all the way through your deck again in order to see it. For this reason, if you are in this situation and have a strong card that you want to play as often as possible, you should probably play it before the draw card.

My favorite is Ironclad. Great sustain and you can build an effective deck with him in so many different ways.

I'm really glad that you got recommended to me, because I love Slay the Spire. I've played for 200 Hours and still try to improve

I've played it a few times. The characters get more complex as they keep making them. Ironclad is real simple. Build up attack power and/or block, and just fight until you win. After that it gets a little trickier, and a little trickier, until you get to the Watcher, and people are still trying to figure her out.

I feel like all these "is x card good?" questions (which I asked my fair share too) are like asking "is Qe4 a good move?" in chess. It all depends on the position (however, it's such a central square that _in general_ it's likely not a good early game move)

"Practice Things You Don't Like". So true. Even perfect builds in our comfort zone can end in tears, lol, but if we had just experimented with a few different tricks instead of passing up on them, they would have made all the difference. I love doing learning runs where I practice using different things and I'm usually stunned what I've been missing out on. Great video!
