This is one of those movies that gets creepier the more you watch it. Good horror movie that doesn't rely on jump-scares.

The people inhabiting their host bodies just can't be bothered to keep a facade of normalcy.

They directed him "Pretend you're a crazy old white man" and this is what the actor did with it.

He was the old man, Rose's grandfather, that started it all, and is happy to see the next project/victim. Outdated lingo and showing he was running/exercising proves it, wishing he had that body then, and because he is still upset that he was beaten in the Olympics.

The old man enjoying his new body. He was the funniest of the bunch. I also noticed that this one is the most kept together and advanced result of the transplantation. His sunken self doesn't struggle to resurface. Yes there's a creepiness to him, but he's actually the most normal of all the victims. The grandpa in complete control of his new body. I'm picturing the actual old man and that's exactly how he would be interacting if he was his original self.

So this is the guy who started the whole thing just because he couldn't get over losing a race to Jesse Owens?

When you rewatch this movie, you realize that Walter is actually the Grandpa(Roman Armitage), and thats why he's talking in a very dated tone like someone from the 1930s-1950s.
Doggone was a popular term in the 1930s-1940s.
Nobody, not even a modern White man would have talked like Walter.

“One of a of the line...” @ 0:50. His acting was brilliant. Spoken perfectly like an older white man.

If this scene wasn’t screaming red flags that something isn’t right then I don’t know what will.

Marcus nailed it and stood out with his short amount of screentime.

Lmao no black guy (or even a modern white guy) talks like that. The actor did a great job conforming into the character!

I couldn't quite put my finger on why the controlled bodies acted strange until I found out who Walter really was. Initially I thought it was merely the acting performance. Since their task was to act like white people posessing black people and acting how they viewed how black people acted, but even that didn't seem it for me. Then, I realized how they were talking. Using words like "Top of the line." And "Tattletale." and the tone that came with it. They weren't just talking like white people. They were talking like white people from the 1930s - 1960s. Which in the modern day would seem out of place even if they were talking to other white people.

Betty Gabriel and Marcus Henderson are truly phenomenal actors. They both really make you believe they are old white people; they NAIL the stiffness and the monotone and antiquated way of talking. They both command the screen and you can’t take your eyes off either of them, can’t stop wondering what is wrong with these people. And the brief moments where we see the real Georgina and the real Walter are moments where these actors show us brief glimpses of the people buried down there, enough to give us an idea of what kind of people they really are (Walter is clever and quick-thinking in deceiving Rose; Georgina is a strong fighter managing to very briefly break through and cry without needing a camera flash like the men). Their performances are so convincing and the film wouldn’t have worked quite as well without true talents in these roles because Georgina and Walter are both far more important to the overall story than they initially seem to be.
