Something the switch REALLY needs is a better friends/messaging/chat system. Xbox 360 had this perfected all the way back in 07. It’s sad we can’t even do a party chat in-game native to the console.

What I think:

- 8” 1080p LCD
- Magnetic joycons
- HAL effect joy sticks
- HD Rumble still exists
- Triggers that aren’t just a button, but you’re actually able to slowly press in for easy acceleration or quick press in.
- WiFi 6
- Bluetooth
- It’ll use DLSS upscaling to achieve “4K” when docked to a tv
- backwards compatible with current switch library, but cartridges for the new system will be like 3DS with an extra notch so they can’t be used on older systems.
- I imagine dock design will still be similar, as much as like smaller docks.
-base power of the system will be similar to PS4/xbox one

I would love customizability in a Switch 2, similar to the 3DS. Themes, backgrounds, cool icons, folders, and bring back the eShop song

i think the best thing Nintendo could do for the Switch 2 for a gimmick is giving it the Smash Ultimate treatment by having a return amalgamation of all the best parts of their previous systems, making themes available, having a social hub similar to the Miiverse, having artistic apps like flipnote, download play for select titles so people can easily play new releases with their friends, allow easily swappable shells/ plates to give character to their console, consider adding more recent console VC to their library past what they've already done. I think Nintendo's stronghold messaging should be that they're still the fresh creative console and reaffirm that it's meant to be enjoyed the way the consumer wants to, not being dictated by Nintendo how they should be using their console.

If Nintendo doesn’t support backwards compatibility and instead repackages old games to sell at full price on the switch 2, it’s going to be frustrating.

My hope is that switch 2 is backwards compatible and that old games will run better on new hardware.

If the switch 2 launched with a new Metroid, Pokemon, and Mario Kart, that would probably be one of the greatest launch lineups in decades

The strangest thing Nintendo did during the whole Switch phase was releasing a version of the Switch that you COULDN'T switch the joycons out of and you COULDN'T switch from console mode to TV mode via a dock. It literally didn't switch and they still called it the Nintendo Switch Lite. 🤯🤯🤯

Two ideas I think would be pretty cool:
1) Support for a plastic stylus, so that mouse pointer games can be played without the need of a touchpad. And maybe this can allow for ds games that relied on a stylus. The stylus should be sold separately as an accessory and it would even be cool if they sold a joycon with a built in stylus that’s expandable like the 3ds.

2) Cooling built into the dock. I think that Nintendo should have all tech that is solely for higher performance modes, like 4k output, put into the dock to really give us the best of a handheld and a console.

I think it would be interesting if the dock had its own storage and you could transfer games between the switch and the dock, allowing you to have more games at home while still allowing you to take them with you for travelling. Imagine leaving for a trip so you swap games around between the dock and the switch, maybe with a good network you could do it on the fly?
