Should the MCU Reboot after Secret Wars like the leaks suggest?

There have been recent reports, rumours and leaks suggesting that the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) will reboot after Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027. In this video I discuss wether a reboot would work and if this should be a full hard reset, a soft reboot or a change in direction but maintaining the current universe.

Secret Wars should soft reboot the universe and act as a new jumping on point. Hopefully Marvel will focus on the quality of each film again and be similar to the earlier phases.

Honestly in 10-15 years i would like reboots (trilogies)of individual marvel characters. A standalone Iron Man, Black Panther and other hero trilogies.

Yes, but no. No, because they'll just use it as an excuse to recast everyone based on the idea that a different identity is meaningful, rather than a different personality.

Hey man, amazing video topic once again!! The best thing about comic books is they can revisit stories, do reboots and do different versions. I love that we have live action versions of these characters, I think people will be happy with a James bond recasting, ideally a reboot shouldn't happen, we need to stay connected with the characters and have the shared memory, but just as long as they don't change too much of the characters back story then I'll be happy. What they did with Namor wasn't that good but I was glad to see him be on screen.

Great stuff Cinemaze. I will never ever feel super hero fatigue and I really feel for Marvel Studios, it’s been a rough few years for them with things they can’t control and things they can control. So yeah they shouldn’t reboot after Secret Wars, do one more saga with the F4 and X-Men that is shorter and then stop. And years later do something new.

I mean yea I want Avengers with X-men and Fantastic Four. RDJ is too expensive and his version of iron man died. Secret wars variant aside we need recasts for popular characters including Wolverine among others

now that the new spider-man movie is gonna be multiverse oriented, a small part of me thinks this may be the reset button that would be perfect for a reboot.

I think the MCU should do ONE more Saga (the Mutant Saga) then do a Reboot. I’ll probably make a Mutant Saga video next year. I also have ideas for if the MCU does a soft-hard reboot. I still think they should keep going then end it and start a new Universe with a new X-men, Iron Man, Spider-man & more. I’ll plan out that Universe if I have to.

I’m OK with a soft reboot but I don’t want to undermine other important character deaths that have already happened I would still like them to acknowledge that that has happened at some point but considering that the multi-verse is a thing and because they do it in the comics I’m totally fine with other characters coming back as different actors as long as they still mention all the other things

Soft reboot like with James Gunn turning the DCEU into the DCU. A sh*t ton of recasting sure, I'll hate to see even Tom Holland's Spider-Man go.

The thing I hate the most that people keep saying is. “It’s just super hero fatigue” NO stop giving bs excuses as to why super hero movies are not doing good. People are not tired of super hero movies, they are tired of garbage super hero movies and they are tired of pandering and forced agendas like race swapping multiple different characters for the sake of pleasing a fan base that never existed in the first place. I want a reboot simply because of timing the fantastic 4 are coming too late into the series where there’s almost nothing for them to do and we don’t have the X-men yet hulk is a laughing stock because he can’t get a solo movie or anything a reboot where the first 2 phases mainly build up new X-men in the fantastic 4 along with introducing us to some the recasted characters with hulk black panther and maybe others then phase 3 could start the main avengers.

It's not a wholly bad idea. The MCU has become so big and full of characters and history that anybody new entering the franchise now could be overwhelmed by how much homework they'd have to do to understand who is who and why things are the way they are. Plus, any new story added to this would have to be beholden to every event or groundwork that has preceded it. If we start again, from scratch, we give future stories room to breathe without being weighed down by what has come before 🤔

80% Reboot with new Ironman, Thor, Steve Rogers Cap, Black Panther in the same universe with Mutants, X-men, FF. Completely different dynamic compared to the current MCU. I can't wait to see it.

I don’t think rebooting/soft rebooting the MCU is a cool idea. I get that the movies and TV series are lower quality than we would like after the Infinity Saga ended, but it feels childish to throw away something in the garbage just because you stumbled a few times. Learn from your mistakes and own up to it. This reboot is not about teeling better is stories and will only do harm, they'll recast all the original avengers because Disney thinks that they were the reason it was a success. Its not. I dont need 20 Iron Man movies, i want other characters too. Other ideas, other villains. More freedom for the directors.
