Maybe we just had consistent bad luck, or it was an extra weird weather year, but this is our experience after having done two separate trips to Switzerland during the off-season. Again, I really hope this video doesn't sound like we're complaining, we still had such amazing trips, I just wanted to share our experience in hopes that it would help others as they may plan a similar trip.

We went to Switzerland last August and it was something I can’t even describe… We were surrounded by breathtaking sights.. We stayed in Wengen, it is a little cozy alpine village, car free.. The hotel was perfect. It is Alpine hotel… We loved the transport system, we usually don’t like to drive during vacations..

Hopefully you get better experience next time you visit..

it doesnt matter if its march, may, august or september, the weather in the alps is almost always unstable and the chance to have consecutive sunny days on a prebooked vacation are always small
mount titlis is great, you can ski there till may

PS, you can often fly for less to London or Paris and then change to a low cost airline like Ryanair or EasyJet to Switzerland to save on airfare.

I went in september and I got beautiful days. Only got 3 rainy days.

Yup. I went to Zermatt nearly 40 years ago off season and saw not even a hint of Matterhorn

Sorry man. We went there during spring break. I thought it was beautiful, but I am not a professional photographer. We did not see Mount Matterhorn either. We almost got loss on the way down to the station.

Penny-wise and dollar foolish, or, there's more costs than airfare. CH with its Swiss Franc is expensive year-round by what you mention; parking, tolls, gas, car rental, plus hotels! With CH you have to bite the bullet and go in summer. The country is so small, around the size of NJ, that you can hit any part of it as a day trip from cheaper Italy, France, or Germany, if the weather is good. Luzern is called The Sink of Europe- it's always wet. It is also an outdoor country. The villages are cute and the cities so so, but the outdoors are spectacular and the only reason to go. It's so expensive you can't even think about restaurants and in a two month work trip I spent there I ended up eating in a supermarket cafeteria to splurge, and I would drive to France for much cheaper groceries. Others will tell you to take a train but they are also quite expensive. All this to say a CH only destination trip is a gamble and always needs a Plan B. You're not in Kansas anymore.

Didn't you guys research the weather before going to Switerzland? I'm going in the beginnning of september because is the time. I would never go there in these foggy months.

don't spend too much of life waiting for "Perfect Weather". 😝 Knowing when the time is right* helps too though. 🙏🌥⛰️🏞☁️☁️
