What happens when millions of Medicare beneficiaries who have delayed elective medical procedures for several years suddenly come out of the woodwork and start utilizing Medicare benefits?

No, I’m not talking about crowded waiting rooms.

I’m talking about Medicare Supplement companies loss ratios spiking. And when loss ratios go up…SO DO PREMIUMS!

In this video I go over recent rate adjustments from some of the major Medicare Supplement companies. Including AARP/United Healthcare, Aetna, Aflac, Allstate, some of the Blues, Bankers, Humana, Medico, Mutual of Omaha and Transamerica.

Yikes! No wonder why many people feel like they're forced into an advantage plan.

I had been on Plan G since 2018.
I started with TransAmerica and after two rate hikes moved to Western United.
In two years of coverage, they went way up.
Switched again in 2021 to AARP/United hoping the community rating might help.
No way.
I received a really high rate increase a couple of weeks ago and had just had enough.
Went through medical underwriting for the third time and switched to Plan N.
The premium is $98.75 a month cheaper!!
Age 71 male in Texas.

It’s not people “coming out” to get healthcare after CV. It’s the medical costs from effects of those old folks taking the clot shots! That is what is leading to increased costs for that group.

Relatively new to Medicare. Began with AARP-UHC in South Dakota in April, 2023. Premium was $134.33. Beginning April, 2024 it increased to $143.33, an increase of 7.4%. Beginning in June of 2024 it will increase again to $164.83. That's an increase from April, 2024 to June, 2024 of 15%. Not thrilled.
