Today we’ll look at how marketing tactics have changed over the years. We’ve come a long way from old TV commercials, and magazine clippings to every available screen being an overstimulating 60 second ad that overworks your brain. Now that the youths have access to social media and pretty much anything at such a young age they’re developing a lot of unhealthy habits. Lunchly, being obsessed with influencer backed producuts, and gacha game mechanics to name a few! Dopamine Marketing is Changing Our Brains #edvasian

Lunchly having fewer calories than Lunchables isn't even a good thing. It's like they didn't consult a nutritionist at *all.* Children are growing, they need calories for energy. The demonization of calories in the media has conditioned us to believe we should always pick the low-calorie option, but that's just not based in any real science. If children don't get enough calories at each meal, they're going to struggle to thrive. 230 calories for a full lunch isn't nearly enough. From ages 9-13 (which is about the demographic of Mr. Beast and Logan Paul) kids need anywhere from 1, 400-2, 600 calories per day depending on activity level. Assuming a child eats 3 meals per day that's 466-866 calories per meal.

I legit thought Lunchly was a joke/fake product when I first saw it out there. I was like "is this from an SNL skit or what?"

The funniest part of the Lunchly shit is that DanTDM made ONE tweet and KSI is still yelling about it in dozens. Maybe hundreds

With mr. Beast's reputation, not surprised to see him collab with a scammer

Predictable marketing scripts amuse me, lol:
First we're going to try Lunchables...
Ew! Gross!
Now we're going to try Lunchely...
Wow! Great!

I know they're targeting kids, and kids don't know any better, but I can't take commercials seriously anymore.

I work at a vintage toy store as a girls' toy specialist, and I want to note the difference between toys today versus the past.

There are entire AISLES for blindbox toys these days. Kids would rather gamble for cheap pieces of plastic that have no playability and are just an excessive amount of waste.

Kids do not play with toys for as long in their childhoods anymore, they rely on gambling toys and garbage on their phones rather than real imaginative play.

Sounds like a non-issue to most but this heavily affects their growth and future.

I am so happy that Mr. Beast has chosen to publicly associate with Logan Paul, because at least that's a irrefutable way that I can justify my hate for that dude. I'm sick of arguing with people that "posting videos about doing so called altruism is what enables him to keep doing it because that's where he gets his revenue". That man makes me feel uneasy and his whole thing is exploitative.

My boyfriend’s 11 year old nephew played roblox on the regular. Even during the summer when he was off from school, when he wasn’t rollerblading, he was robloxing. It got so bad that he knew his grandma’s card information BY HEART. My boyfriend worked out the math and how much his nephew spent on her card, it was over $2, 000. When he was without Roblox, he kept trying to choke himself I guess just to feel something. He is currently going to therapy, doing a lot better and is never allowed to play Roblox again…

The gambling issue is so damn real. I went to visit my cousin's during summer in the US, and my cousin (who is 19 like me) was weirdly addicted to the idea of starting to gamble; he doesn't wanna do anything else, he just wants the quick money and sees no issue with it, it was truly concerning like dude you aren't even an adult 😭

The fact that it has Prime in it (which had to be altered in ordered to be sold in my country, and got in trouble for not distinguishing itself from it's energy drink)

From what little I could find about the 13 yr old girl who spent her family’s life savings, it was primarily neglectful parents that was the problem. Not only did they keep their 13yr old completely ignorant on how money works, they didn’t check their account once in like 4 months to notice odd spending patterns. And I know a lot of people don’t believe the girl didn’t know anything how money worked like she allegedly stated, but at 13 I barely knew how money worked. It’s not like we learned it in school and my simultaneously neglectful and helicopter asian parents sure as hell never tried to explain it to me nor had I ever really handled money at that age. I made several really stupid financial decisions around that age and it’s a good thing I only had cash to work with bc I’d at most spend $100 which is still an insane amount as a middle schooler. Like yeah maybe the probability is low, but depending on her upbringing it is still possible she straight up didn’t know the scope of how much money she was spending.

That being said, bullying or at the very least peer pressure was also why she spent so much. The articles I’ve found said her classmates wouldn’t stop bothering her until she paid for their games too. And for a 13yr old, approval from peers is like one the top things to strive for

It's him telling us about the galaxy gas and my first thought is that it just sounds like whippets. They are recreating whippets.

14-15 year old here. im not like this, raised with the occasional hour long phone-time where all i did was watch my little pony videos. i know kids who were raised with ipads & following all these trends & honestly its sad. these kids are the ones who make teachers cry & treat other kids like shit. its not a whole generation, but its a louder part of it.
