Great video! Love the Grenadier, always stop by when I'm in town. Also recently visited the Hawley Arms for the first time. What a place.

Didn't know a good 6 or 7 of those. Have to make a day of it and visit them all. On the theme of macabre pubs - Have you visited The Magdala pub in Hampstead? The last woman to be sentenced to death in the UK shot her lover outside it in the 50s.

The Ten Bells, there is much more history to that pub. I am sure it has the upper hand on The Grenadier ;)

Great vid. However, the Prince of Wales pub you mentioned re Adam Ant was actually on Prince of Wales Rd NW5. It's now been redeveloped.

The Blind Beggar is supposed to allude to the legend of Henry de Montfort who escaped the Battle of Evesham in 1265 after being blinded. He begged on the crossroads, where the inn stood for centuries before being built as a pub in Victorian times. It’s almost certainly not true but London is full of myths and legends like this

It’s a true pity that the Thomas a Becket has been knocked down (old Kent road) that was a great pub complete with boxing ring upstairs I believe Henry cooper used to train there amongst other of our wonderful boxers.

At 8:25 the picture of the soldier who was cheating at cards is actually a portrait of the Duke of Wellington !
