UPDATE - on the day this video was published, these 2 deals on Amazon exist:

The 5700G also includes 10% cash back if you're Prime, and have a Prime card, making it $167 after the discount.
The 5500 includes Uncharted Legacy of Thieves - a $50 value

Two days ago I upgraded from an i5 6600 + GTX 1060 3GB to an R5 5600X + RX 6700XT and felt a little bad about doing this right at the release of all the new CPUs/GPUs. But after seeing the benchmarks and prices of the new CPUs, RAM, mobos compared to the gaming performance for what I need (1440p non new/major titles, I'm too old and cheap for the new AAAs). I thought the last gen stuff looked like an amazing deal (got the 5600x for $140 and a new 6700XT from Newegg for $350 after rebate!!!)

Great video as always :) I did upgrade from 1600x in march to 5600x, then I did pay 200 USD for it on eBay, no complaints so far, great mid-range processor :)

Getting back into watching PC videos and I always enjoyed yours. The last two times I built my rig I had your videos playing as guides. Thank you for keeping me calm.

Did a simmilar upgrade for a friend. Got him a 5500 to replace his 2200G, and a 1660 super to replace his 1050 Ti. 350$ total for a beast upgrade.

Also grabbed 2x 3070 Ti cards from miners for 440 euros each(3070 ti is 750$ new here) for me and my brother. I am a little miffed by the 8GB ram, but a little finessing with the settings fixes that.

Tech, in Costa Rica everyone got scared of the prices of Ryzen 7000 and all the local stores do not have the Ryzen 5000 CPUs, only APUs.

Since our mandatory Christmas Bonus is coming on December, prices may increase or new imports of Ryzen 5000 may be only sold on bundles. I had to import the Ryzen 5 5600x from Amazon to upgrade the 2600.

Remembering my last upgrade of my Pc from i3-4170 to i5-4460 and I'm still using it till now. 😂 Paired with GTX1650. Thanks tech deals! Still good for light gaming like League of Legends and Valorant 😁😁

As mentioned in video, and something that should be noted and probably pinned for those who are curious:
The 5600 is essentially a 5600x with slightly slower base clocks but are essentially the same makeup of CPU. Gamers Nexus and Hardware Unboxed Benchmarks show no discernible difference performance wise, maybe margin of error
The 5500 right now (04/11/22) I saw on PC Partpicker US is going as cheap as $99 whilst the 5600 is around $119

My personal recommendation:
Anyone running anything 1st Gen to 2nd Gen, a drop in upgrade to the 5600 is a no brainer. Nothing from 1st or 2nd Gen can keep up even with an overclock, and yes, not even the 8 Core CPUs from those generations are as fast if you're gaming focused, and sure they have more threads but generally the experience is slower.
3rd Gen, probably only consider it if you're running something like a 3100 or 3300x but anything above that, it becomes diminishing returns. There is a performance uplift from the 3600 to the 5600 based on my research but not as big a jump as it was from 1st/2nd to 3rd Gen Ryzen.
The 5500 however is a harder sale as while it is a six core, its reduced cache hurts performance and at times, slightly worse than even a 3600 but if you're on a tight budget and running something like a 1600, 2600 or any 1st/2nd Gen Quad Core, it might be worth a shot if you can find a really good price on it.

4500? Forget it.

Went from FX 8350 +R9 290 (2015-2019) to a 2600X + RX580 (2019 - 2022) to a 5600X + RX6600 (few months ago)
The 2600X + RX580 combo was the first PC that I had that ran NEW games @60fps (Division 2, RDR2 etc.)
This new setup doesn't even break a sweat with any of the games I own. I play @1080p b.t.w.

Specially for people who play @ 1080p, this is a super sweet rig.

IM currently using a 3600x OCed to 4.35GHz and a 3060. I am more then happy 1080p gamer. 😄 . Awesome video as always! Next upgrade is gonna be 5800x3d and either a 4060 or whatever AMD makes in that price range.

The huge amount of respect you deserve is unimaginable. Your reviews are exactly to the point.
But here’s an advise if you dont mind.
1. Kindly make a colourful studio or background. Put a well decorated pc on the behind. It will create a premium impression.
2. Your benchmarking charts looks like old dated. Kinda make it a bit modern and simple at the same time.
I have said all these coz I genuinely love your channel.

Intro music is better when faded out as here. What I really didn’t like about it was the percussion of the build kicking in, only to be cut off a second later. You found the balance.

Thank you for doing that price breakdown of the two current platforms and noting the longevity before upgrade. I especially make this comment because someone got the idea citing they heard it form your channel that going AM5 right now is a better choice for budget-mid end options. I hope they see this video.

Most irritating part about the zen5 boards aside from cost is mobo manufacturers cheeping it out. I was looking at this B650 Aorus Master board costing around 370$, which has four m.2 slots. However, if I fill more than two m.2, then the pci E lane will go down to 8x. 🤬. Furthermore, there are costly AMD X670 boards that still do not support pcie 5th gen!. Not a big deal, but there are intel z690 boards that offer everything for way cheaper price.

Recently did in-board upgrades: (B450) 2600 to 5600 ($129), and (X470) 2600X to 5800X ($249+ free game) Both where very easy, just updated the bios on each system. Now we just need new GPUs. Probably going RX 6800XT (1440p) / RX 6900XT (1440p ultrawide), when I see those cards bottom out on price. Best value is always last gen.

This is 9m old but I just bought a 5600 and set the pbo. Amazing drop in, cant believe what I was missing out. My 2600 oc to 4.0 had a good run. Next upgrade wiil be in 3 years to am5
