This is a quick look at my Hyundai DHY8000SELR 'Silenced' Long Run Diesel Generator. i bought this to backup the mains power in my house. we dont have a lot of power cuts here or i would have bought a bigger 1500rpm unit but i just needed something that would be ready to power the house incase there was a power cut. and this seamed like the best option it has a good power output and can easily power my house even with the airsource electrtic heating.

These are amazing i have one and if you back feed into the grid, all you have to do is have 2 male plugs on one lead and you dont even need the ATS!!! If you backfeed the transformer on the street these can put out 11000v

This is a Chinese generator rebranded. We bought the 12500 version, which has no glow plug, it has a weird starting system that is supposed to activate from cold. When it arrived the fuel in the bare steel tank was bright orange with rust from moisture that the Chinese diesel fuel had absorbed thanks to its high ethanol or vegetable oil content. The rust clogged the inline filter with brown crud but even after we had fitted a new filter it simply chuffed out white smoke and wouldn't run. Eventually after cranking for over a minute, which is a bad idea, it would chug and cough into life and then falter and die. When we did succeed in getting it running it was noisy and very smoky and smelled awful. We sent it back to the supplier (no easy feat because I had to build a new pallet under it and lift it on) who tried to repair it but when it came back it still wouldn't start so I lost patience and returned it for a full refund. What a nightmare.

We’ve got one at work, it’s been extremely unreliable, luckily people have been around the deal with the Carp during power cuts when it’s failed. We’ve been lucky so far...
