RIP Alan Arkin. (March 26, 1934 – June 29, 2023) Thank you for sharing your wonderful humanity and talent with us all. You broke my heart open with your portrayal of Abby Singer in this heartwrenching 1968 film. You taught me the meaning of compassion through your amazing performance.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. It's the story of the young girl but also about the deaf mute boarder who came to live at her home. The film is more about Mr. Singer, and how his life affects everone he comes in contact with. They all come to him for help, and when he needs help they don't even notice it. It's very very sad.

Sondra Locke was brilliant in the movie. She's really underrated.

One of my favourite movie ever! I saw it the first time 1969 in Budapest/Hungary at a cinema, since 1987 I have it on VHS-tape in German and a few years ago I got it on DVD original English from South.Korea. I saw it perhaps 20.-25 times.

I’ve never read about a bunch of people with so many ridiculous physical problems all bumping into each other. In fact as I read the plot I had to burst out laughing at how silly it sounded. Mick lost her virginity because her dad is going to be permanently disabled, lol 😂 lol 😂 hahahaha as one ridiculous example. But looking at the movie made it all better.
