What makes your modular unique?

The modular scene is expanding, and with it the amount of options you have when building or expanding a modular system. In this video I ask the question ‘what makes a modular unique’ and try to answer that by having a look at four interesting topics.

I wanted to make this video for some time, but have a lot more to say! Let me know if you have questions or topics you would like me to dig more into!

Hello everyone! I wanted to make this video for some time, but think each of the chapters could be a video on it's own. Let me know if you like me to dive deeper in any of this! - Affiliate links:

Zadar is awesome! I like running the crazy shapes thru a quantizer and messing with time and voltage ranges for melodies

Your tutorials are very inspiring. Wish I had more hours in the day to think through this stuff with my rack.

Great video, you really nailed what I love about Xaoc stuff and produced some lovely patches along the way! 👊

I had to laugh 😂 when you showed the Wasp filter as a „conventional“ module, remember the issues it caused on your last Berlin Modular Society gig :-).

Great video, can I ask what case are you using for the Xaoc system?

I would like to see your take on the Zadar in a full episode.

Zadar is a really great FM source for another oscillator. Very easy to dial in.

You have a lot to do but it would be great if you could do a video on the Toppobrillo Sport Modulator 2!

Speaking of uncommon modules, have you checked out New Systems Instruments? They make excellent stuff but seem to fly under the radar somewhat. In particular I'm a big fan of the Harmonic Shift Oscillator and the Inertia.

I have a drop the mic module. It has a large marx generator capacitor chain and destroys anything plugged into it 😅

Thanks, such "meta-videos" about modular are far too rare. About Zadar: can you confirm that there is no simple sine shape to be found on this module? I was looking through the table of waves, but couldn't spot one. I was slightly baffled by this.

Unless I'm mistaken, all the reverbs on Timiszoara are mono to stereo. More news at ETA i was mistaken

Great video. "Katowice", however, is pronounced as follows: Kato (like the japanese name) followed by the German word for jokes "Witze", but with a long "i".

Maybe somebody can help with phonetic transcription?

Incidentally, X occasionally refers to Jesus because of Greek chi, hence xmas.
