A super old school finger dexterity trick I used to do during high school helped me make tons of progress.
Do the traditional "Metal Horns" with your Fretting hand and hold for 5 seconds. Then invert the shape so the middle and ring fingers are up but the index and pinky are tucked behind your thumb...hold for 5 seconds. Then "shift" the shape so the index and ring are tucked leaving the pinky and middle fingers...5 seconds Then shift the shape again so the index and ring fingers are up...5 seconds.

Get used to those motions and that pattern. Do 4 reps of 5 seconds in each shape. After that, see how quickly you can cycle through all the patterns. That tiny trick is something you can do throughout the day while you are away from your guitar and it builds dexterity and finger independence very rapidly.

I love how the collab is all different skill levels, all at different points on their musical journey and all getting better thanks to what you do. Cheers to all of them too, keep up the great work!

I am really starting to like the content and teaching style of BERNTH more than other channels! It's lean and mean with nicely condensed information that make sense! Thanks!

Great lesson. Number 3, applies to everything and is one of the biggest things that I have found holding others back. It is also wonderful when someone gets it and instantly realizes just how much easier and more natural playing is when they learn it. Perhaps a lesson on keeping the fretting hand loose despite what the picking hand is doing, if you have not already done so. Thanks Bernth, and again, really great lesson.

When I think about the fact that I've been playing for nearly 17 years and I'm still intermediate at best I worry that my bad habits may be too entrenched by now to learn my way out of them and that I might never be good, so looking at talented guitarists often makes me feel pretty down about myself. With that in mind, these videos are great for just concisely explaining what some problems are, how to correct them and some exercises to practice doing so. The fear of eternal mediocrity is still there, but at least I know how to try now

You are what I’ve been looking for, I’ve been trying to play the guitar but could never get my fingers to act right. The finger exercise you demonstrated I feel will help me to get started.

A lot of these issues I’ve slightly noticed and throughout the video I noticed myself doing all of these! Just having someone list and explain beginner issues helps me a lot. Thanks!

Thanks Bernth! Somehow you always manage to bring up topics I never thought I should focus on. Even better, topics noone else is talking about. Keep it up!

I've payed a number of instructors for a lesson, but none of them told me about my left hand posture which was dead wrong. Should've known you earlier Bernth. Thank you for making me a better guitarist every week. Cheers from Korea!
