Edema Ruh is a people from Patrick Rothfuss' Kingkiller Chronicle books (a favorite of Tuomas). They are traveling performers and troubadours; the main character of the books, Kvothe, is part of this people and is trying to decipher a mystery related to the way his parents died. Clearly this Nightwish song is about themselves and how they see themselves as traveling troubadours bringing joy and hope to other people.
I absolutely adore this version, maybe more than the original version (which I Love), but this acoustic version hits different, and I love it !!!!

Reacts to Joelma when he was a member of the band Calypso live in the Amazônia (Brazil) in 2004. And then he reacts to Joelma in his solo career live in the Amazônia in 2022 (Block 1 and Block 2). She is considered the greatest performer in Brazil, and one of the few who don't use playback, her face is swollen because she contracted Covid 4 times and her blood was clotting, but even so she managed to record this DVD, like almost 50 years.

You see, there is a lot more Nightwish to do.
Congrats on the new milestone.
Good to see Jeff back!

This performance also had the rarities The Mug of Brown Ale (trad.) and Alone (i-Ten cover, not Heart).

Congratulations on hitting your subscriber milestone! You earned it and deserve so much more. Will send you a more proper congratulatory message when I get back home. I can’t really imagine how awesome it would have been to have been on that cruise ship back in 2015. The sound quality on this one is actually pretty good. Especially Floor’s vocals and Marko on guitar. This set was off the main stage. It started with just Troy and Marko, who did a few covers, including Money by Pink Floyd, and Jethro Tull’s Locomotive Breath. Kai joined and they did Motorhead’s Ace of Spades. Then Floor joined and the did Alone, ala Heart fame, then this song (only every played live a handful of times), and finished with an old drinking song, The Mug of Brown Ale. I need to invent that time machine. And it’s okay SueSue… Floor/Nightwish get me a little teary sometimes too. Keep making as much racket as you want Wolfman!

Thanks for doing this. These little one off's are amazing to show the talent of this band. Also, 10, 000 subs, way to go!

So nice to see you react to this song. I was there on that boat. ❤ Thank you. I get emotional too.

Troy: "We are going to play you a song...." and Floor is looking quasi menacing at him as when she entered the stage earlier, Troy was playing the tune from the Titanic movie.... Floor shouting: "Do you know what happened to that boat!" (This Nightwish performance was indeed on a cruise with the ship "The Baltic princess" between Finland and Sweden. You may have seen the version of "Yours is an empty hope" from this cruise)

If I'm not entirely wrong, knowing what a fantasy nerd Tuomas is and having read the books myself the song may refer to a group of people appearing in the book series The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss. The main protagonist of the book series is member of the Edema Ruh. The Edema Ruh people pride themselves as accomplished actors, story tellers, musicians, and singers. They travel around like a wandering circus. People scorn them, assuming they are all thieves and criminals. Yet their songs and stories are told throughout the book's world.

Thank you for doing this. I love this song (in my Top 6 favorites), especially this version. @TimoArula perfectly describes the inspiration for the song and nails that it is clearly about themselves. That Tuomas and the band sees themselves as modern Edema Ruh, traveling the world and telling the timeless stories that bind us together. There is so much sweetness and soul to this song and this performance that I always get emotional and it leaves with a profound sense of gratitude for the band and music in general.

Congrats on hitting such a major milestone! I can remember when you guys first started, and you thought the only subscribers you'd get were family, and you were surprised to grow as fast and as much as you did, in the early days. But you guys are truly loved, especially by the Nightwish Army, and I hope you're both doing well. 🤟

If I'm not mistaken, this acoustic set was separate from the main show (which was at least partially pro shot) they did on this cruise. And even Floor was not in the entire set. I'm not sure how many songs they did on this acoustic set, but I know they did an awesome cover of Heart's "Alone." Of course, Floor did her own amazing cover on her channel, but I really love the Nightwish version in this set. There are a couple fan recordings of it. If you decide to check it out, the one with the most views is the better one. (I would link it, but YouTube has been deleting comments with links.)
