Power BI License Assignment

You have different options for Power BI license assignment. I look at what those are. From the Office 365 Admin portal to PowerShell. I also do a quick recap of the different licenses available.

For an example of how to assign licenses via PowerShell you can look at the following. It isn't specific to Power BI, but gives you the gist.

thanks for your videos. Due to costs, I'm looking into converting my SSRS reports into Power BI. Users will be using my app to retrieve reports. Does the licensing about users accessing my reports apply here?

Little confused with E5 Power BI license. I heard Pro is available by default. If I develop a report whether it can be shared with other E5 user to access? What are the limitations?

Great info on PowerBI licensing...
Got a question.
I have two (2) PowerBI licenses under my email address, Free PowerBI license that I used to create my account for PowerBI and a second PowerBI Pro license bought by the company I work for and assigned to me under the same email address as the one I used to creaate a free powerbi account:

Whenever I login to powerbi online services I keep getting the message "Upgrade to Power BI Pro", yet I have a pro license.
How do I make the pro license become active on my powerbi login account?

A simple question - If I have Power BI desktop which is connected to an Excel file with rows and I create some dashboard using that data; if I want to share this dashboard with 20 internal staff as read-only report, which licence do I need? Thanks

Currently we evaluate Power Bi with our MSDN Account.

We build solutions on Analysis Services (Multidimensional, BI-License) or directly to the MSSQL (Standard-License) Database.
Most of our Costumers are hosted on our own cluster server (Domain, Web, Db-Server).

DB-Server Licenses:
- SQL 2014 Standard
- SQL 2014 BI

If user wants to use cubes (=> Multidimensional) we (our company) needs to pay for each new user right?

Cube users:
- Power BI Pro Admin Account
- Power BI Pro Account for each customer
- Per Power BI Pro Account one SQL-BI User License

Direct Query to SQL-DB
- Power BI Pro Admin Account (same account as above)
- Power BI Pro Account for each customer

Did I miss something? Would we nice to get a response!

Have a great day

hello,

My client does not have an O365. he bought open licences of power BI Pro.
I don't know how to manage those licences without having an 0365 admin portail.
Can you please help?

Any idea what license would be required to display a PowerBI live dashboard on a TV or public display of some sort? I'm guessing just any PowerBI Pro user logged in would work, but I've not been able to find this in writing.  People (other users) can see this data, but it would be impossible to assign licenses to them.
