I always appreciate when you share the engine safety issues with the Hyundai/Kia products. I really like the looks of products coming out of both companies but ultimately, I want a vehicle that is going to be safe and reliable. Too many reviewers get caught up in the looks and PR and seem to not look beyond the surface. Thank you for doing such an amazing job and sharing the truth.

Bought the Toyota Corolla Cross last month. Very happy, traded in a 2018 low miles Honda Civic with air conditioning issues and other problems. No bargins at the Toyota dealer. I paid $500 under sticker for the XLE all wheel drive. But it's so roomy! Shuts out road noise decently, sound system great, easy controls, I could not be happier.

I own a 2021 Crosstrek Limited. No complaints, great mpg and works great in harsh Minnesota winters with a car like ride and plenty of cargo space. I would buy again!

In my opinion I like the Crosstrek’s interior the best. Also it has the best all wheel drive system so it’s the best for camping out of them all.

We loved how nice the CX-30 looks, drives and the included safety features but decided to pass due to lower MPG, that's a trade off between performance and gas efficiency. If performance is important to you I highly recommend checking the CX-30 out.

I'm an absolute fan of Toyota. And I just love the fact that they are the leader of hybrid cars BUT they don't have any Hybrid Sport car, they stick with good recipes like we love. Toyota knows that Hybrids are good, but they don't want this in
their sport cars because it's killing the passion of a sport car. I just admire this brand

I am going with the Crosstrek because it is a car with 3.5" lift, and apparently it drives like a car. The Corolla Cross is an SUV and apparently drives like an SUV. From my own experience, the Toyota probably has the most dependable, long lasting, fuel efficient engine. I think the Crosstrek is better in every other way. Also, I like manual transmissions, and the Crosstrek is the only one that offers one.

Crosstrek. I own Crosstrek 2021 limited edition since 6 months. No issues. 9.1L/ 100 kms fuel economy in city. 11.1 in city in winter.

Cost: Costed me around $40, 000 CAD with interest and taxes (Ontario). I am paying $707 per month.

Clear advantages:
1) more spacious than all other opponents.
2) Nice rear seat leg room
3) All wheel drive
4) limited edition is 182 hp
5) Best safety among ALL cars.
6) performed nice off road
7) Great resale value
And many more.

3 things missing: 1) no duct in rear seats and no heated rear seats. 2) Average interior (however doesnt matter to me); you can make it interesting 3) No lumbar support for driver

If you want to avoid a CVT then on this list the CX-30 is the only one with a traditional 6sp auto and the Crosstrek the only one that offers a manual transmission.

I think your video presentation is outstanding --- concise and informative. I purchased my Mazda CX30 based, in part, on one of your earlier reviews. While no car can be perfect (hate the CX30's high door panel and mediocre visibility) I agree with you on how well it drives.
A belated Happy New Year!

Cross looks great but very underpowered. CX-30 has a great powertrain but too small cargo. Can Mazda and Toyota team up and put the Mazda powertrain in the Cross and sell it please?

Thank you for this! I'm about to buy and I've been doing a lot of research, so I figured the Toyota would be #1. I'm sad to say that the dealerships are going way beyond the msrp though.

My first Hyundai was a 2005 Tucson and that car did last fifteen years without any engine failure. Now I have the 2022 Kona and so far so good with also an extended warranty that I decided to pay extra for. I will definitely be sure to carefully monitor anything out of the ordinary and get it into service before anything major happens to it. From what my local Hyundai dealer told me was the only recall on the 2022 so far, was the horn not working properly. They told me that the engines have been carefully tested for the 2022 models but I will keep this review in mind and be on the lookout for problems that may crop up. Early detection is the key to preventing costly repairs. Whenever my old Tucson started making a noise I hadn’t heard before it went straight to the mechanic and was dealt with before the problem got worse. After that the cars engine outlived the body of the car believe it or not. So yes there are things that can go wrong but the bottom line is, a car runs as well as you maintain it. Do all the service checks and oil changes and you will be fine. I was always prompt on those and routine timing belt changes and serpentine belt changes . As far as the review, it was very well done, and it definitely gave me things to keep an eye on.

We would have loved to purchase a Corolla Cross however, with the Toyota dealerships in Seattle, the consumer will be forced to pay $6, 000 over MSRP or you would have to wait 6-to-8 months for a car from the more honest dealerships. We opted for a Mazda CX-30, because of the reasonableness in pricing, ethical and hospital approach. I highly regarded the Toyota brand for a long time however, my more resent experience with the brand has forced me to reconsider.

I have a 2021 Seltos purchased in Feb. 2020. So far so good, and I love the roominess of it. Didn't need AWD, so went with the FWD 'S' trim and have gotten around 34 mpg in mixed driving. Bought on a whim when I took my Soul in for an oil change and saw the Seltos in the showroom. It had the cargo room I was looking for in a small, inexpensive SUV. Not the smoothest driving vehicle on the road, but very practical. Don't see the point in an SUV with a tiny cargo area.
