I've watched several videos on how to do this, but you were the first to explain just how painful it is, and that no matter how much screaming and crying that it is needed to stay on. You also explained important details of putting it on single bone, etc. I also apprecate having a simpler approach to how to make a tourniquet out of everyday objects. A very helpful video. Thank you. Christine

Practice! Practice! Practice!
When practicing on yourself (which you should definitely make sure you can do before the day you find yourself bleeding to death), NEVER remove your own tourniquet. Always have someone else around to remove it for you. You could wind up removing your tourniquet in a real 'life or death' scenario if you are in shock and have practiced taking it off on your own in the past, so it's best to avoid ever doing it. The information in this video regarding waiting until you are in the care of a trauma surgeon and letting them remove it is very true.

Also, when you practice with friends and family members, you ought to try and get the tourniquet tight enough to be very* uncomfortable. In the event of massive hemorrhaging, you must tighten until the bleeding stops. If the bleeding hasn't stopped, you must keep twisting, even after the point of extreme pain. So to get a sense of what it'll be like is a really good idea to help remain as calm as possible in a critical scenario.

I didn't know what a tourniquet was, I just like the song "Tourniquet" by Evanescence but now I know how to use one incase I ever need to. Thank you Ma'am.

I'm a survivalist, and the most important thing I have is my medical bag. Having the right "tools" for the job is nothing shorter than living or dying.
Everyone should have a trama kit for severe bleeding. In my kit, I carry two " one-handed" tourniquet, two Isreal bandages, bleed stop, pack wounds gauze to fill the cavity, rope dressing " for minor cuts and abrasive wounds. But the most important thing is a good tourniquet. Using an improvised tourniquet is ok, having a ready-made tourniquet that you yourself can apply to yourself with one hand could mean the difference between life and death. I'm not trying to cut down this video and in no means saying that it is wrong, but life or death I myself would depend on a one-handed tourniquet

Am I allowed to carry a manufactured (CAT) tourniquet in my regular first aid kit? I’m planning on carrying it along side compacted gauze (for wound packing), trauma bandage (an Israeli bandage) and maybe a vented chest seal (like the Prometheus Russel chest seal) - basically a combat IFAK which I know how to use

No!!! Single throw knot after the windlass?? It will undo! REEF KNOT! Right over left, left over right. Secure!
Otherwise good.

Meh. Fair explanations but horrible visual demonstrations.
