Simple yet one of the most important videos on the internet. Knowing how to apply a Tourniquet quickly and correctly can make a huge difference when facing an emergency. Tons of people could've been saved if more people wasted 2 mins of their lives to watch an instructional video

Thanks Dr. - I would like to emphasize the importance in not allowing your hands or the tourniquet to become blood-covered as this makes it much more difficult to effectively apply and tighten. Also be sure to mark the time applied with an indelible marker, both on the tourniquet and on the patient as sometimes it could be missed if there are other more serious injuries or in a MASCAL triage situation.

I’m no trauma surgeon, but when I was training, to be an Army Combat Medic, we were taught to write on the limb; time/date that the tourniquet was applied, for the doctor to see. I’m not sure if that’s still taught, since I know, like with CPR, the medical experts are always changing the SOP’s, (Standard Operating Procedures), to medical training.

With the "time" label on the wrap, should you still write "T" and the time on the patient's forehead with a marker or grease pen? I learned that when I worked Security on the Vegas Strip.
