Does Knack Deserve A Third Chance?

It seems fair to say that Sony has established itself as one of the finest publishers in the industry, thanks to its consistently high-quality output of games over the past generation. However, even the best plantations are bound to have a few bad apples here and there - and this analogy very much stands true in the case of Sony as well. Many would agree that the two games in the Knack franchise were missteps from the console, resulting into underwhelming experiences.

Interestingly, the Japanese gaming giant has recently filed a new trademark for Knack, which has given way to a ton of speculation about a possible third entry in the franchise. Of course, a trademark renewal is by no means a confirmation of a new installment in the franchise - it's essentially just one of the many formal procedures to retain a company’s rights for an intellectual property. But the question of whether Knack deserves a third chance or not is one that's definitely worth asking and investigating in detail. So, should Knack 3 happen?

I would love a 3rd game. My son and I really enjoyed the first two with 2 being far superior.

Knack is underrated. TOO underrated. I think the concept is creative, and I also think the improvements made by the sequel were welcome additions to the franchise. The story is well put together, with the original managing to juggle 3 villains that tie into each other. And I think the series peaked in the finale of the original, kicking off the moment you collect your first giant relics. Seeing knack grow into a colossal size with the existence of thousands of giant relics implied throughout the story is one of the most fulfilling things any game could do.

Yeah, I think so. I know Knack 3 may seem like an impossibility right now, but in all honesty, why not make it a complete trilogy. Knack 3 can easily be the best of them all and make some real changes to the formula.

My son and I enjoyed Knack when I first got my ps4. So it has a special meaning for me. 2nd game was fun too. A 3rd game? I'd buy it... but I would be the minority for sure. Probably isn't fiscally worth it for the development cost.

It’s not always just about the story sometimes it also matters how the games mechanic work and how the game feels to play. And let me say this knack felt like a video game

I really enjoyed Knack 1 and 2. I played knack 2 with my nephew, we enjoyed it. I really like the story. A 3rd would wrap up the story. But I also feel that way about Days Gone and The Order 1886.

I would love a 3rd Knack game to give the series a complete trilogy instead of a duology as although the 1st game wasn't the best I still really enjoyed it and the 2nd game was just a good game overall. They could take the criticism from the two games and improve upon them as they did with the second.

I always loved the first two games. And they didn’t deserve the hate they got, though I think it might do knack good to be a little bit of more of a mature game We are dealing with a several Ton stone and metal relic monster. Maybe pg 13 perhaps. Though this is only a thought.

Crazy how the early ps4 games that got trashed by fans and critica turned out to age like wine and become gems (Knack, Driveclub and The Order 1886)

I like both games and never understood the hate it's one of those games that people decided on before they even played. Looking at the scores it got in comparison to the broken unfinished crap that released later cemented my disdain for mainstream reviews. It's crazy how much hate it received for being primarily a children's game.

Honestly I played and beat knack 1 and 2 and honestly it’s a charming enough idea that it does work, however it just needs to take itself a bit more seriously. I played the second game with my 7 year old niece and she adored it. It just goes to show that it’s a great kids game but not strong enough for adults.. and in today’s market, you need to be able to be loved by all ages

Here is an opinion that I have, which correlates to this:
A new game? Go ahead!
A sequel? If it needed a lot of improvement, sure!
A third? Only if it has a really good conclusion, and/or kills off the main character, to establish a sense of finality.

...I wonder how we could end Knack...

In my opinion yes.

This game DESERVES a third chance.

I had a conspect of what the story should be on three.


It should be based around how Knack became to be. Where the Relics came from, but the twist is the relic that knack is made of is a world ending threat. So i personally think Knack 3 should have a slight darker tone i dont know its just me
