I had a cat that turned out to be a dog. He came when called, loved to dig, loved Greenies dog chews, and when someone drove up to the house he would go to the end of the walkway and meow at them.

Northern breeds are stubborn. I have an Alaskan Malamute. They act cattish too. You are fortunate in the sense of size. My Malamute is a very large dog who thinks he weighs 5 pounds. Stubborn is his middle name. He currently weighs 120 pounds.
